This segment was just what I needed to hear. I am one of those amateur tiers that has well….1000’s of flies in boxes I forget that I tied like 3 years ago. I am ahead of the curve in that I bought my first Metz Grizzly 14, 16, 18 pack last week at FRA on a recommendation from an associate there…a trusted associate I have seen on the water catch fish. They are easy to use and I’ll get many flies out of it with no waste! My goal I made last week of catching trout this winter on my local creek might be attainable now with Charlie Craven’ s suggestions. I am also ahead of the curve as my leeches I tied for summer crappie and bluegill will be the first fly I will use tomorrow for trout. Thank you for a great video. I will look forward to the next segment!

Really great show! For the next one, would you include a list of the flies mentioned and maybe a link to a video tying the pattern in the description? I’m new to tying would appreciate the help!

It's a good wintertime hobby too. I've spent way too much on capes and saddles this winter though😂

I live about 45 minutes from the San Juan tailwater. Only go in the winter though. Too many places near me where no one's at to battle the crowds at the San Juan

Greetings from Austria! I wish Umpqua was represented over here 😢

Glad to see this. I hope you can turn it into a regular affair. Now my sense of humor suggests that Umpqua Feather Merchants has "Turned to the 'Dark Side'". That's only because when I started tying flies at 9 years old I must have had the eyes of an eagle and I could've clearly seen the details on those flies on the table from where your camera was when you were seated at it. But that was in 1950 and now "The Eagle Has Faded". Seriously, I do hope you'll consider a lighter background for visual contrast. The flies and the discussions are great. It's the visuals that are a bit too monotone.

Adding the list of flies to the show notes would be great instead of having to take notes during the video

Greetings from NorCal! Y’alls flies are my go to when I’m guiding on the lower sac and the trinity.
@johnbesharian996510 ай бұрын
I assume by "Lower Sac" you still mean up by Redding & not down here by the American River, right? Either way, have you heard anything as to any effects of all the effluent nightly hosed (via the untreated storm drains that empty directly into the San Francisco Bay) by city workers trying to keep up with their "Unhoused" population's sidewalk "Deposits", may have had on the anadromous fish, Salmon, Steelhead, Striped Bass, Sturgeon and American Shad populations? Plus, of course, the ones like Herring and flat fish that breed in the San Francisco Bay proper? I've heard reports of a "Mystery Bloom" along the waterfronts and all the aforementiond species and their food fish all swim through the pollution to and from their breeding grounds.

@@johnbesharian9965 I was actually on the American today and caught a 25'' wild winter run steelhead! But no, I haven't heard much about that.
