John: Getting hired as a flight attendant is ALWAYS very subjective just like getting hired for many other non STEM jobs...….if the interviewer likes you and has good chemistry with you, you get the job! it is as simple as that!!

@@genten777 Overall you are right, but it isn't just non STEM jobs. It is all jobs. I interviewed a couple of people for a STEM job. Both people had the same skill sets. I selected the candidate who I felt most comfortable, since that person would be working for me. Another interesting point. When hiring or looking for a job, there are so many qualified people that sometimes it is a numbers game. Of five people who have both the skills and personality, one gets selected and four get rejected - no fault of their own.

Reminds me a lot of my career path, I got rejected by 4 agencies before getting hired. It turned out, the agency that hired me was the best to work for, go figure. When I look back on life's biggest disappointments I realize they all turned out for the best in the end. If you want to make God laugh, tell him what your plans are!

Also, I have heard that sometimes people get rejected not because they aren't good enough or have done something wrong, but because they don't have the profile the company is looking for on that exatct selection, however, they might have the profile they look for six months after you first applied, for example. To me, that makes total sense.

Thanks for this. I REALLY needed a "pep talk". I am in more struggles right now and, while I know I will get through this, it doesn't feel like it. A car hanging by a thread, looking for a different job(LOL...I am not a flight attendant....never will be), and trying to find housing for 4 adults to share (my daughter, her fiance, my twin and myself) for at least a year so we can get on our own feet better. I keep thinking nothing more can go bad....and it does. While people always seem to lean on me for support it always seems like no one is around when * I * need it. Thank you for this.

I’m pretty late to this video but I started applying 3 months ago to be a FA , I applied to 19 airlines 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ lol I know a lot ! And so far have been rejected by 12 , I’ve flown across the country on my own dime to interviews and it just didn’t work out in the end but I am currently no where near giving up ! This is something I’ve decided I want to do with my life and after each rejection I only allowed myself to be down about it for a few days then I got right back up and kept researching different companies and applying but this video just kinda hyped me up more bc I know those 12 that didn’t hire me are missing out . So thank you for your little extra umpfh in my journey. I have another interview next month and I’m super excited about it . Hope to see you in the air soon !

Hey Stella, I just wanted to say I really needed to see this today. Not only have I been applying to become a flight attendant, but I just got rejected by a very lucrative job that would have placed my husband and I in Hawaii. Anyway, I have been struggling desperately to work for an airline and I am almost always given a video interview, but soon after I’m given the “Thanks, but no thanks” email. Its disheartening, but knowing that someone as bubbly and effervescent as you can be rejected by ANY airline, kind of softens the blow a bit. I haven’t been deterred yet, as every time the 6 month period is up, I’m back and applying again. I know that if I can make it to the F2F, that they’re gonna love me. Great video about not just becoming a flight attendant, but overcoming adversity. One little bit of advice from a retired IT guy. Never access personal email from work. It does not matter if it is web-based, forwarded to your work email or not if your machines are monitored that email may be seen. Love your story, and it ends well for those of us who enjoy your videos. Living in Charlotte, I feel for your schedule, especially when you guys roll through here in the wee hours of the night. Our airport is amazing when everything is open. Otherwise, not so much.

Your best vlog ever! SO true! On the reverse, when I had to leave flying due to my health, I was devastated and probably didn't get out of bed for a week. It was right before Christmas and I just remember being so depressed. My life changed for the better, just down the road from that, in ways I could have NEVER imagined. Now I am in real estate and killing it! I will always treasure my years as a flight attendant and I hope you have a long and happy career as one!

Stella you have such an inspiring story. I can definitely relate to you in my desire to become a cabin crew member. I wanted to become one: I have all the great characteristics of an ideal flight attendant (customer service-oriented, safety-conscious, great personality, sense of humor, and bilingual in English and Mandarin). However, being a guy with tattoos on my forearm were a major reason why the airlines all said no to me. So every time I'd fly, the moment I step through the airplane door is when I go to work - I volunteered to help the flight attendants in their job duties from picking up trash, keeping my seat areas clean, and even wiping dirty lavatories for them. They politely insisted on not needing my help but I continued to help anyway. I know nothing is going to happen right away, but I know my good deeds will be recognized and found out about one way or another to the point the CEO and upper management will know about it and perhaps even give me a job. What did I get once I walked off the plane at my destination city? A happy crew and a myriad of thank you gifts from them.

I went to a interview this week and wasn’t selected. It wasn’t the airline I’ve been waiting for and not interested in moving towards the west coast. That’s too far from my home which I’m not going to sell and plan to return home when I’m ready to retire on my terms. I don’t need to work but I’d love to travel and not be at home so much. I’m waiting to hear from one airline for the f2f and it’s the largest airline in the world. I think you know which one that is so I’m not going to say it. That’ll make my bucket list for sure. Waiting for over 35 years to get there so if it’s meant to be so be it. There’s a plan for all of us so just have to go with the flow like a palm tree. Thanks for the inspiring post.

Your idea to vlog the subject confirms the type of person you are. I have been rejected & always walked away wondering what I can do to improve. I would enjoy flying with you.
