I am breaking in the engine in the air with a APC 4.5 x 4
This is the second engine run 20.5k rpm in the hand and best level
pass at 24,160 rpm needle is set bit rich. After a few more runs I expect
a fully broken in engine getting about 25k needle peaked.
Engine includes a V shape flywheel with the rod pin drilled out originally made for the TD .050 RC to up rpm for a none SPI engine using a muffler - Note I am using a Galbraith glow head with Nelson turbo plug. The Killer Bee is a original May 1995 engine bought new never used. I robbed the tapered piston and cylinder for the TD frame comes with SPI function which can be heard on start up with a notable tone clearing burst of power. Note the Killer Bee has a lighter piston weighs .5g less than a stock .049 piston. Installed a phenolic thrust washer for electric starter use. This will be a two part vid for reference once the engine has been broken in a follow up video showing the final results using crank case pressure. Run time in rich mode 1oz fuel tank 25% nitro 5 mins 44 sec. 11.4 oz plane 5 ch with flaps / rudder / ailerons / throttle / elevator. Galbreath adapter head for the Nelson plug used.
28in span 88 sq. in. 10mm thick airfoil at the wing saddle.

Really cool to see people still running Cox engines, really takes me back to when I first got into rc flying, with 2ch car radio and standard servos in a scratchbuilt balsa plane :) I still have three cox engines. A queen bee, a venom and a pee wee, all original. Kinda wanna make something small and fast right now :D

AA, You've really developed quite a program with amazing plane and engine design. Very impressive. You have that engine tuned out great with all the mods you made. Really something.

I am registered with the FAA and I am flying outside the 5 mile zone nothing irresponsible there. I fly less than 300 ft or the plane would be too small to see. Perspective through understanding is key = )

beautiful, pretty small electronics, what an engine, the carb is sure useful, you can ideal the engine and have a controlled landing, pretty neat, This is the first time I have seen an implementation of an electric starter on a cox!!!

God I miss the sound of a Cox engine. Has the sound of one seriously pissed off hornet. Oh yeah you need to carry two items with you at all times with a Cox one a small wash cloth to throw into the backward engine start and bandaids for prop knocked fingers. But smiles all around.

Where did you get the plane body from? Also what do you use as a fuel tank? I have two tee dee .049 engines from my dad that have never taken flight but I think it's time that I do that for him.

Yes Jimmy the 1/2A Hornet Starter is perfect for engines from .020 to .10, I have started two TD .15's with it but it's a bit of a load on the 05 size can motor.

Thank you, if you get the carb having throttle is a big plus they also sell the exhaust throttle sleeves too.
@cameronlian123
@cameronlian123 7 жыл бұрын
i dont like those because its just a restrictor/choke, not a true idle. still burns the fuel constant at full throttle. but its a novel idea thats way cheaper

so you can't throttle it, you must keep flying until it runs out of gas, is that?
@AmpAbuser
@AmpAbuser 7 жыл бұрын
Yes can throttle has a RC carb rather than a venturi see the start up setting of the needle and throttle set up this was a new engine so needed to fiddle with it a bit to set up the carb.
