Not alone on the GoGo inconsistency. Flying TransPacific westward to Tokyo last month, GoGo was subpar on American's 787 as well. Was slow over North America and then went out until we were near Tokyo. Flying eastward, service was a bit more consistent but went out while we were over the Bering Strait until we were back over North America

javichuelas on my flight from Seoul to Atlanta the Gogo work for the first hour and was out the rest of the flight. My flight from Detroit to Tokyo the Gogo was fine until somewhere over Alaska and it went out to never return. The time I was able to use it it was pretty fast, compared to the old version. I was able to stream my podcast which is never able to do on the older version. If they make the service more stable throughout the flight I think they maybe on to something.

Last time I flew to Japan, I was in a dead zone for like an hour and a half, two hours as I crossed over Alaska. Seems like higher latitudes are a challenge for the service.

I doubt American Airlines or United would even try this. Glad to see at least one US carrier is trying to keep up with the times. American needs to throw away ALL creaky-ass 757s. I'm sick of being stuck with them. My dad always made me fly them because of their points program. I don't know if Delta offers a better program because they're also on American Express' Gold card system. Don't know why he won't switch over to them...

largol33t1 actually, I have been on one American Airlines first class did have a cabin, it had a sliding door, and it could lay all the way down like a bed. I would say though that delta has their shit together more than any other airline in the US, the only problem I have with American is the service. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can you tell me if there was much room for your feet when you were fully reclined? I'm a regular Delta One traveler, and my biggest issue is that there's no room for my feet when I am laying down, as I wear a size 16 shoe. I can't lay flat on my back with my feet straight up. I have to be in 1A or 1D on the 767-400 to get any space, and those seats are pretty old at this point. Great video, and thanks for sharing!

I actually liked that entree! Its a shrimp and scallop lasagna. I had a flight which had lamb shank (which i ordered) and it was like dining on shoe leather so i sent it back for the lasagna and i thought it was excellent. Food is a matter of taste I guess. I also like the duck appetizer. And you're right: hard to mess up a caesar.

Got the same issue with GOGO flying asia-bound over the arctic and then entering Russia where coverage are basically nonexistent. However, on the return trip to US, I think they flew a bit lower in terms of latitude, maybe to catch some tail-wind, the wifi coverage is much better.

one of the main problems with this whole premise is that, if the crew knows you're doing a review, or filming things, you get better service. the other is, if you're using points, or basically flying around for a living to review things, the stakes aren't nearly as high as with people for whom travel is a more unique experience.

From what I've read, food is hard to make taste good on a flight because the elevation affects your taste buds. Likely the starters were at the beginning of the flight before taste buds were too affected. time.com/4862996/airplane-food-taste-bad/

TPG sets a pretty high bar with its web site reviews; I recommend them as overall well written, well illustrated, detailed, and sometimes witty / wry / advertently entertaining. So, this, the first TPG video review I've watched, had _none_ of the above strengths! At moments it verges on parody. I flew on this plane. Food was trash but if you had T-Mobile you got unlimited WiFi so that was good. There was a good movie/tv show choice and it was all free. Leg room wasn’t that great either but then again I was economy.

Really ? All Delta long haul planes are 1-2-1 in business. Maybe not up to date ( B767 ) , but you get your aisle access and lie flat seat. Not like , for example, EMIRATES...2-3-2 in their business B777s ( Dublin to Dubai ).

I'm actually very pleased with the price of these flights. Compared to Singapore first class which can run $15k+ you can actually get the delta one suites for about $6k which is a lot better. However, the Singapore airlines first class is a lot fancier and it's pretty much like getting your own studio apartment rather than a seat on a plane.

stefflmrk QR is heavily subsided by their government. Therefore that explains why US carriers are not on a level playing field with the ME carriers. Furthermore, the ME carriers are flying mostly half-load planes on their routes. Not making any money or profit is not a problem for them obviously.

American-based Airlines cannot compete with their Asian or Arab counterparts. You don't need to be a 'reviewer' to see that for a business-class (or "suite"-class) seat that these ones are cramped, cheap-looking, and the food appears average at best. If you're paying $4000+ (or using-up your miles) for a ticket, this is not worth it. You only have to look at Singapore Airlines or Emirates Airlines business-class to see what the standard should be.

the inflight Service does not impress me at all. I dont get the de luxe Feeling. Meals look like econonmy class. Now compare that to your trip on Etihad. OK that was in First class. Delta has no more international first class cabin. And their onces First on the MD-11 was outstanding with the caviar Service. Still Keep those menucards from all of my Delta First class trips to BKK and TPE.

The flight between Detroit and Tokyo has been around for quite some time. The flights are very full as Delta feeds passengers to this flight from all over the place. I should know...I've been the Purser on this flight many times. Singapore did not have suites 25 years ago.
