Thanks for the video, would the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro be good for Helicopter flying? Using the throttle as collective and stick for cyclic in MSFS2020?

You could do that. I would search to see if there are any mods you can make to it so it would act more like a true cyclic. You might find a mod to change the center point to give you the real movements you need and then mount it for the most realistic usage.

I have two of them. One I bought a week ago, and one my gf dad had from 2004 when they launched. And they were way nicer in the beginning. Modern manufacturers for it have such lack of tolerances

Hello. I used to play with a USB PS2 controller, and I used to do a feature in menu controls, It's called: "Center ailer rudder" in flight control surface/Primary control surface section, (I think Number 5 on keyboard), So this feature make the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit & it's make the plane balanced & going straight when I lose control of the plane or when I take my hands off the controller to relaxing my hands or when I get up from the computer for a minute, So when I came back to the computer I found the plane still going in a straight way & I feel happy. (This function it's not Auto pilot, It's Center ailer rudder) But after I play with a new joystick "logetich Extreme 3D Pro" and when I adjust the same feature (Center ailer rudder) on one of the joystick buttons. So when I click on that button. I see the yoke returns to the middle in cockpit, BUT when I take my hand away from the logitech joystick, the plane going down or going up. So I have to hold the logetich joystick all the time to control the plane. Why was this not happening to me on the PS2 controller? Is there any solutions?

You might need to increase the "null" zone for the roll and pitch axis. Sometimes when the joystick is oversensitive, or is giving an incorrect input in a certain direction, it can cause the aircraft to make unwanted movements. Let me know if this helps. I am finishing up several videos, now that I have finished my yearly recurrent training. I can make a video discussing this in the future as well.

I just ordered a used one from goodwill for 20 bucks. It isn't tested but I really hope it works. Some people have said it isn't durable and tracks in the wrong direction. From what you have said, it seems that it is durable and well made. I just hope mine works because aparrantly these have been in production for over a decade.

They have been made for a long time! Hopefully it's not a super old one. From all the joysticks I have owned, this one has lasted the longest out of the budget ones.

I like the improvements they have made to that product over the years. I had the older version that did not have the wider base. My only gripe is the throttle setup. I have not tested that product yet, but it looks to be a solid offering from thrustmaster.

Would it be possible to program the movement i.e. the 8 directions of the "lever" to desired hotkeys etc.? A simple example would be: moving the joystick forwards equals pressing X key on a normal keyboard? If that's possible at all - would it be fast-paced as compared to pressing keys on a keyboard (more or less?) Thanks for the review.

@@NDBAVIATION Actually non. I was thinking of using it for other games as keybinds as I unfortunately cannot handle a normal keyboard with my fingers. However Im pretty swift with the mouse so the solution would have to be quick to match it. Isen't there a Logitech software for keybinds?

I have the Logitech Freedom 24 joystick which is the wireless equivalent of the Extreme 3D Pro with a few minor differences. It has a triangular base with the 'outriggers' just like the Extreme so it's very stable. The handle is exactly the same but the throttle is a little different with a very slightly longer lever. I can't remember how much it cost because I bought it in Switzerland back in 2007. It's a very good joystick except that if you're flying on autopilot and therefore not physically handling it, every 2 minutes it times out and the throttle goes to max. I only use it now for running a quick test flight if I've just installed something and I want to make certain it's installed properly. It saves hooking up my Saitek Cessn yoke and all the Logitech peripherals which are attached to it.

@@NDBAVIATION As it happens, two days after that comment I decided to finally splash the cash and bought myself a Honeycomb Alpha yoke, which, via Prime, was delivered the next day and I 'recycled' the worn out Saitek Cessna yoke. You're right though, you would have expected a new wireless stick, especially as there was absolutely no lag in transmission.

The base of the extreme pro has to be wide because the spring tension is insane, I guess it's subjective but I hate it, I can't use it on my thighs on a couch. I pulled mine apart and loosened the four screws retaining a spring so strong I came across a conversation where two people had heated it red hot to weaken it, it's BAD for many of us, and it did improve it. Mine had play in the left yaw only with right turns instantly stiff so the deadzone had to be upped. Then the yaw sensor failed, so I bought a T.16000m. Hasn't arrived yet, now I'm worried it'll be have an insane spring too? Others said it's way less tho, so fingers crossed! 🤞

Any idea how to turn on Turbo thrust on this when flying the Top Gun planes on Maverick in MSFS? I can't seem to figure it out or get over 500 knots

There is a setting for "military power" that needs to be assigned to unlock it. If you use your mouse and look at the throttle, you will find it on the F-18 throttle in sim.

I have had mine for going on 8 years and no issues! My kids use it on a regular basis and the joystick just keeps on working. Never needed to clean it either.

I just ordered one to use it with both X-Plane 12 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Do you think it can stand stable around 4 years if taken care well?

I can't promise anything, but I can tell you what mine has been through. I bought mine almost 7 years ago. It has survived 1 move, 3 kids (oldest not even 8 yet), and even travelling with me during COVID while I was refreshing this channel. That travel included it being jammed into a regular sized carry on roller as I worked for the regional I just left. That meant it was in that bag for four days in combo with all my clothes and such. This thing is rugged and has been put through a lot, and it is still precise! I plan on doing a pre-holidays video this year for a sim buyers guide. This joystick will be in there and still recommended.

It comes down to the price point you are aiming for. Budget throttles would be Logitech, and top of the line would be the Honeycomb Bravo. The Bravo is the best out there right now, but if you are looking for simple and cheap, the Logitech throttles are good.

That is interesting. I have recently noticed that if I had two devices with the same axis shared that X-Plane 11 would make one of them the dominant one. I'll have to test this to find an answer.

I bought a new 3d pro joystick on ebay in November last year, it worked great for six months using msfs on windows 10. Now completely dead. I tried reinstalling the logitec drivers but no response. Do you know of any better drivers? I suspect that my new G hub logitec mouse software has somehow stopped my joystick.

Same situation for me. I really hate this G Hub software as well. Someone at logictech sucks at interface design.

I've seen issues like this before. Have you gone into the game controller window and verified what is and is not working on the joystick?

The problem is that the logitec joystick program installation doesn't recognise the joystick when inserting the USB cable, hence there is no game controller window.

I have just tried installing that same joysick on another pc, once again the joystick is not recognised. I therefore believe the G hub software install has either corrupted or wiped the joystick integral firmware. I bet Logitec won't admit this is their fault !

@@westwonic I got mine working for X4 Foundations. It's showing up as HID-Compliant Controller instead of Logictech 3D Pro. I'm not sure how I got it to work other than having it update drivers from the device manager. I plan on getting a HOTAS eventually, but it won't be by logictech.
