Flight To Nowhere

Winter isn't done with us yet, but it has given us a few days of spring weather. I'm just now starting to arise from my annual hibernation and getting back into the months of the year that matter (April - November) but I'm still a bit of a rusty pilot by this time. The weather was surprisingly pleasant today so I decided just to take a short hop.

Took my Sling up for an hour today. We had several inches of snow which thankfully burnt off before I got to my hanger. Beautiful flight to NOWHERE.

Hey Dave, Your dash Ram Ball mount. Did you use self tapping screws, double sided tape or did you drill through with nut/bolt to secure it to the panel. If drilled with nut/bolt was it a big job due to the lip at the panel bottom. Thanks. KAPF

I’m pretty sure it’s nots and bolts. Definitely not self-tap or adhesive.

Can you tell me your camera/microphone setup? Good sound and video!

The camera is a GoPro 4. It has a USB port that will accept audio. I bought an adaptor that lets me plug the audio cord into my headset and record the intercom and radio. It’s pretty straightforward. I also have a power cord that I plug into the back of the GoPro because the battery life is so short. It taps into the 12V socket.

you should charge a ton for doing the 0053 work :) have you seen any cracks? at least the RV is sane even with higher gas prices. (cool to hear the solo convo! thanks for leaving it in)

No cracks on the first one. I don’t expect to find any in the others either - they’re all relatively low hours.

Enjoyed the new video. Can the SB-00053 be completed without removing the fuel tank on a classic 12? Can you get in the back okay? If not, how do you drain the fuel tank? Enjoy your trip south.

I’m not sure about doing it without the tank removed but I’ll be doing one that way next week. It was pretty hard even with the tank removed. I drain my fuel tank by taking the drain valve out of the bottom of the gascolator and running the fuel pump run until drained.
