Having lived in NJ, just an hour from NYC, for a couple of years, I found New York to be the closest in vibe to a European city, especially London, of all the US. Very international, at the forefront of the arts and culture, village communities within the city, corner stores and no requirement - indeed, a hindrance - for a car. You will discover the main downside if you stay over the winter; it can get very cold with little sun visible. I am sure that you and Marcus will have a great time.

Outstanding work! As an ex-Continental FSM, I totally relate. I was based in IAH, they open the HNL base and immediately transferred to DC10 schedules, HNL-NAN-SYD-MEL. OMG. WELCOME TO THE BIG APPLE!!!! Sorry for the shouting I'm in Queens I'm so happy!!! I've been watching your channel for the longest and this is awesome. You're going to love it here, BTW. The only thing is that if you choose to live in Jersey it'll be a pain to commute to JFK/LGA and vice versa to get from LI/CT/NYC to Newark Airport. Just a heads up on that. Hot tip: You'd like Stamford Ct it's about 45 minutes outside the city but cheaper than living in the 5 boroughs plus you can get to all three airports without having to travel through Manhattan. I do see this transfer to NYC (where Jessica Pimentel just left for "home" in MIA, which suits her perfectly) as a TEMPORARY one and see you back into LA before '23 is over, which I see you better accustomed. I hope your employer doesn't close their LA base anytime soon as they just did with the SFO one (yes, it did get out in the news), throwing your colleague FA's in that part of the country into a frenzy. New York is very exciting. Do you want more European trips or more West Coast trips? Instead of staying in an Air B 'N B why not look for a sublet? I don' think New York is any scarier than LA. New Yorkers are not as tough as you may think. Just a different lifestyle. Also you know LA & you have family there. I think you might fall in love with New York. Everything is walkable or easy access with public transit. Think about it...fabulous shopping, amazing theater, Mets & Yankees, wonderful museums, world class restaurants & world class street food, multi cultural. I could go on & on. also think about all of the amazing places you can go that are really close--Boston, Philadelphia, Cape Cod, Montreal, Quebec, Vermont, Maine...

You mentioned an Airbnb. That sounds like a good idea. I know it will be more expensive than your current base. Stella from KZbin "Fly with Stella" left that area because of extreme rent increases. It would be a great opportunity for foreign flight destinations. Best of luck on your new bases.

Hi JoJo, good luck in your transfer to New York. I live in the Philadelphia, Pa suburbs and have visited New York City many times. It sometimes gets a bad reputation but has many things to see and do. The main disadvantage of NYC and the near by areas is the cost of living. Compared to the Dallas area everything will be much higher in cost. If the New York base does not work out and you don’t mind our hot summers and cold winters may I suggest you try American Airlines Philadelphia base. We are another major hub for American and have both the longer transcontinental routes as well as international flights. While our cost of living would still be higher than the Dallas area it is defiantly lower than NYC. Our people are a little more laid back compared to New York people but we are still a major east cost city with good shopping, entertainment and cultural institutions. I look forward to seeing your new trips and adventures in the New York area. Best wishes on your new base.

NYC you'll never regret. People ARE nice there! Not sir or ma'am..seem abrupt, but we're brought up "just the facts" - not a lot of uneeded BS talk. Nicest people I know actually are from NYC (Long Island or even Buffalo..) or LA. You'll have fun - always something to do. Just expensive like LA or SFO. Don't be afraid at all! So different than DFW area - you'll miss the sun.
