FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

are american years also measured in some retarded unit or do you suck at math? First P51 mustang built: 1942 First GoPro built: 2004 difference: 2004-1942 = 62. thats what you call a century? Do you americans know what century means? Century means 100 years, comes from the latin word "centum" 38 years off is an "almost" to you? it's actually far closer to half a century (50 years) than to a full century.

Travis Parkinson something to consider is the current model GoPro is not the same technology as the 2002 GoPro. The hero 7 has advanced camera stabilization technology, better audio, better resolution, better battery, slow motion, better memory, etc. in 2002 the current GoPro wasn’t able to be built. Really if you want to say the 2002 GoPro is the same technology as a hero 7 than that would be like saying the wright flyer is the same technology as a p51. Yea they’re both planes but new designs and materials have been used to improve upon previous models of airplanes. Either way it’s cool to see modern technology on an early 1900’s aircraft

I grew up at the Reno Air Races. Every year from age 12 to 23, in the 80's and 90's. I got to be right in the thick of it in the pits, because my step dad had a plane and hanger at Stead. It was an amazing time in my life, and it will always be in my blood. I haven't been in over a decade, but miss it and my favorite plane and pilot, Lefty Gardner in Race 13, that beautiful P-38 "White" lightning.

That's why they sell CD's of just the sound at the booths. There's really nothing like it and I'm thrilled to see the interest from the pilots. This is absolutely brilliant. I have seen some Reno footage, but this is really among the best, just awesome to have so many onboard camera angles! Thanks a lot! I think Dreadnought's doesn't *really* have two engines, its engine is *like* two normal (14 cylinder) sea fury engines, but the 28-cylinder R-4360 was built by Pratt&Whitney as a single engine (for the B-36 mostly). I didn't know it had four magnetoes. Interesting. It's a beast anyway :)

I love how much sportsmanship there is here. I guess you can't really afford to try dirty manoeuvres and it can easily result in a fatality

Great coverage! As a pilot it's great to see how they deal with issues amongst themselves. Leave it to the Kiwis to make a epic name as "Yak -in-the-Box". You just couldn't make that up if you tried.

At the risk of being a sycophant, I love the name Rare Bear. There was a Bearcat on loan to the IWM at Duxford. Somehow it ended up in the layby at the Black Cat roundabout on the A1 in Bedfordshire and I passed it on my way to work. I pulled in to have a closer look and there was just the driver, sitting in his cab. I had held my friends tools while he serviced a Hurricane at Duxford. I was amazed how huge the Bearcat was in comparison. It was an odd privilege to encounter one 'in the wild', just sitting on the side of the road. How I wish modern cell phone cameras had been available back in the early 90s.

I use to go to Reno in the 80s. Strega, Voodoo, Tsunami, and other modified Mustangs were amazing. Along with Rare Bear. Now, it looks like the planes aren't as chopped up and modified. Bob Pond would like that. His collection of Warbirds in Palm Springs is awesome. Most are still in flying condition.

I like watching the old film of the Cleveland Air races and the Thompson Trophy race. It looked like there was closed to a hundred thousand people there for the races, there was just an excitement all through the 30s about the advancement that were happening so fast, the Geebee was such a crazy plane. My dad bought the Stearman named Checkers and owned and flown at shows all over the country including the Cleveland Air Races, Sammy Mason owned and flew it at the time and it had a rocket assist on it at the time in addition to the P&W 450. It makes me sick that it was sold before I came along.
