In terms of lyrics, I think this is my favorite King Gizzard song. I love the theme and it's beautifully written. Who hasn't ever experienced this "sleep drifting" ? Being in that in-between state when you're not quite asleep but not quite awake either, just before truly falling asleep or just before truly waking up and anything you can think of, your mind makes it happen (close to lucid dreaming). I just love it. And musically speaking it's perfect, too.

I love that state. I always see the most creative things in that state. Too sad i dont remember even a single thing but only remember that it was fucking amazing. I have written custom songs in that state even that sounded amazing but didnt remember even one word of the lyrics later.

If you think "oh my god trump is so bad", or "oh my god putin is so bad", or "oh my god xyz pseudo-dictator is so bad", then you should realize that for most of history the world has been ruled by dictators, aristocrats, etc.. Yeah, I agree. Although I loved Nonagon Infinity, there has been more than just once or twice where I decided against listening to it because I wasn't in the mood for dealing with the hiss. It fits the style, but it's something I have to listen past. Heard the album over 30 times now, but it could have been 40 or 50 had it been clean and punchy like FMB is.

i google image searched the venue in detroit .... its a hole . if you are traveling to see the band def come to chicago just on it being safe and friendly . detroit is a rough town and the metro is a killer nice venue with a massive pa sound system . o contest no brainer chicago if you are trvelling . not saying seeing them in that tiny venue would be a bad thing but in the metro you have a balcony , you have proper security too . you also dont need to worry as its a nice hood in chicago by the metro but i tend to worry more now that i am a bit older . to be honest detroit scares me but i drive thru the west side of chicago often . i have heard baaaad things about detroit but i can tell you the metro hood is very safe .

It's crazy how they've dropped 4 fucking full length albums this year with 1 more still to come and the 3 I have listened to have been major contenders in my all time favorite album of the year! They'd take the cake if I just lumped them all into one. Sketches from Brunswick East and Murder of the Universe are just as impressive and killer as this album! Anyone reading this should check them out if they already haven't. Definitely one of my favorite bands I've discovered this year

Check out their other albums 'KG' and 'LW'. They're basically sequels to the album this song is from (Flying Microtonal Banana). All three albums are microtonal and they're fantastic.

System of a Down uses traditional microtonal instruments. But yea I don't think too many bands outside of obscure prog rock really touch this stuff in mainstream music.

I have no fucking clue what a microtone is, nor do I care to ever learn. All I know is that I enjoy this music and that it sounds good to me, and that's enough. Music to me is wholly an art, not a science. I respect those who love going into music theory and those who pick apart compositions to see how they work, but I know that's not for me.
