Before any mixing can be carried out the center of gravity must be set to a position allowing elevator trim to be set at zero incidence! Along with known thrust angle and Wing,stab incidence preferably starting at 0 with only right motor thrust , Along with the trimming process requirement of having absolutely no! wind and flying at least 3/4 throttle while performing long straight knife-edge flight and knife-edge loops utilizing right Rudder and left rudder in order to optimize the various mix requirements, having NO wind is Paramount to getting the the correct reading for the desired mix amount and you may find you don't need mix at all with respect to the current crop of competition grade Extras, Slick's,Edges & lasers .. .

Thank you for your feedback. There are, of course, other steps to getting a plane flying as perfectly as possible, but this video was more about the process of programming the Knife Edge Mixing.

Very helpful Would be nice to zoom in to the transmitter to focus on the dialing

Thank you Aliye. We will try to get a follow up video produced that gives a better look at the transmitter.

We have posted a follow up video that shows the transmitter much better. We hope you enjoy it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eavSeaqJabWga5Y

Excellent video!! New to this but your explanation was easy to follow. I understand in a knife edge why you would want this mix activated. But, why is this something you want on all the time, even in upright or inverted flight?
@FlightReviewz5 жыл бұрын
Great question, Garrett. We will try to answer as clearly as possible. The rudder (yaw) affects other axis (pitch and roll) no matter what attitude the plane is in. For instance, if you are upright and attempt a flat turn using the rudder, you will get the same unwanted changes in pitch and roll as you did on knife edge. Same thing for inverted. By having the mix on at all times you are creating an aircraft that will only change on the yaw axis when rudder is added. This is specifically advantageous when flying in competition like IMAC. If we come out of a maneuver a little off heading and want to change this with rudder we don't want a wing to dip in the process. The main reason for this is we don't want to judge to notice that we are making a correction AND if they do notice, we don't also want to be downgraded for deviating on the roll or pitch axis at the same time. In general though, it just makes the plane more predictable in all attitudes. We hope this answers your question. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification if needed.

@@FlightReviewz so theoretically I could make the adjustment by flying the plane horizontally and only applying rudder and seeing which way the plane yaws (tilts) and make a compensating aerilon adjustment (and elevator adjustment if the plane goes up or down) when the rudder is applied? Presumably though the yawing and turning requiring compensation are more apparent in the knife edge position.

We were not able to see the transmitter screen……!!!

Yes, we realized this after we filmed everything. We promise that future videos with a need for screen view will be done better.

Is there a revision that corrects the Tx visuals? I can't make out a thing. No doubt I can find it elsewhere if I have to.

Hey there WAM 74. Great point. We will re-record the TX shots and get them up this week. Since 2018 we have come up with some new methods that help shooting things like this. Thank you for the feedback and stand by. JB

@@FlightReviewz Great. The only thing confusing me is the right vs left thing. Why doesn't the rudder just indicate positive in one direction and negative in the other. So the elevator would also correct opposite, and only one setting needed for both?

I have to say for a beginner your plane barely does anything when your in knife edge only someone with experience can see what you are seeing how about you get real and show a plane that is really out so the beginner actually sees whats going on with the plane and show a close up of the transmitter and what you are doing for adjustments i could'nt see a thing, I learn more by actually seeing whats going on rather then just talk call me stupid call me what you like but i subscribed hoping i could learn something

Scott, Thank you for your feedback. This particular video was aimed more toward the IMAC crowd crowd that will be flying similar planes to this. This being said, we will try to do a follow up with a sport model that will take more programming. We will also try to get better shots of the radio programming.
