Because the gravitational attraction of our Sun for the Earth is the centripetal force causing the Earth's circular motion around the Sun, we can use Netwon's law of universal gravitation to find the mass of the Sun without ever actually visiting the Sun. This is the same technique you would use to determine the mass of Cygnus X-1 with a probe. The Earth, orbiting the Sun, plays the same role as the probe sent to orbit Cygnus X-1. F(Force of Gravity) = F(Centripetal Force)Because 'm' can be eliminated from both sides of the equation, and because 'd', the distance from the Earth to the Sun is also 'r', the orbital radius of Earth around the Sun, the equation can be rearranged to solve for the mass of the Sun To actually compute the mass of the Sun, we need to know how far the Earth is from the Sun and how fast it is moving around the Sun. The value for G, the universal constant of gravitation, is 6.67 x 10-11 N m2 kg -2 (where N is Newtons). The distance separating the Earth and the Sun (the orbital radius of the Earth around the Sun), r, is 1.5 x 108 km. The Earth's velocity around the Sun is just the total distance travelled divided by the time required for the Earth to make one complete orbit around the Sun, T mass of the sun = 1.98892 × 1030 kilograms=1.98892 × 10 to the 30 power plus the mass of three apples.

@@hanifahmutiaradewipinangka7622 no...HCl won't neutralise the wire....due to the HCl the organic salt will turn to chloride of that salt which is more volatile as compared to the organic salt....hence the colour will be more noticeable.

I have a quastion: to identify if some material is an organic compound, first we carry out a flame test(then we can figure out if it's aliphatic or not), next we do the test of solubility ( to know what kind of compound it is), and detection of elements present( to know, of course, the elements present), lastly the functional group identification confirms the substance. So, by doing these steps we can guess the molecular structure? (I didn't have analitical chemistry). Beforehand, thank you!
@naturfagstoff
@naturfagstoff 7 жыл бұрын
Hi. That flame test is probably not like this one. Aromatic hydrocarbons give off dark smoke when they are burned, so I think what You are referring to is more like a smoke test.. But I could be wrong.

And what if you have to identify an unknown which emits a red flame, but two of the known nitrates also emit a red flame?
@kiracat3441
@kiracat3441 8 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Donati You wouldn't do a flame test but add sodium hydroxide instead to each solution, the different precipitates that form on top of each one would determine the nitrate used, using a precipitate colour chart.

A lab was about flame tests. Students were given .5M plastic containers of 9 different nitrate solutions. A question at the end asks, "Using a chemistry textbook, find the formulas for the compounds that are 1M and used in the flame tests." What do think this question means? Am I just supposed to write the chemical formula? The formula is already on the label of each of the liquid compounds. For example, the formula for cupric nitrate would be Cu(NO3)2. Is that all this is? Maybe the teacher did not know that the formulas were written along with the name on each label?
@naturfagstoff
@naturfagstoff 7 жыл бұрын
But the solutions have to be 1M. Those that were used were only 0.5M.
