Personally, I like the F&T better. Sometimes I wish the sleeves were satin lined like the Thursday, but I don’t think you can expect the same longevity as the flannel lined sleeves. Also, the 6 buttons on the F&T make it look better when buttond and the F&T fabric feels more premium to my taste.

The Flint and Tinder is amazing. It goes with me everywhere. Gotta comment because many don't think this is good for work. On the contrary, I have hauled barbwire, firewood and scraped the elbow on a t-post all with no scratches. Also I had my phone wrapped in it and spilled over in a kayak and the phone was dry as a bone. The buttons are plated brass btw.

Seems worth mentioning that they have very different stitching styles. Flint and Tinder has the big seam across the chest and more visible seams across the shoulders which makes it look more rugged. Also worth noting that the wool lined Flint and Tinder does have smooth sleeves.

I have one of each. They are both great and i use them differently. Thursday for layering and Flint for over a t shirt or polo type

I just unboxed the same Thursday Jacket - Feels great - looks nice too. I am 5' 7" tall Weight 163 - 168 lbs. 74k - 76kg. & the size - M - fits perfectly. Hopes this helps somebody.

I just got a Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker jacket in M. Too tight across the shoulders and chest but good on the arms and length. If I try the Thursday jacket in M, do you think it would fit better? Looser around the chest and across the shoulders? I think a F&T in L would end up too long in the body and sleeves. BTW I'm 5' 11", 170 lbs, athletic build.

I actually have a Tecovas waxed canvas jacket and it’s great! It’s unlined but it’s actually really well made in my opinion.

I’m pretty much the same size as you and I think the size small fit of my Thursday is perfect…one mid weight layer fits underneath fine, maybe you would find the silhouette more dialed in with that size instead

Great comparison review. I would say the flint jacket has the lightest material and that may also be another reason it drapes better. Material is classified by its square yardage weight ie 7oz per yard square or 10oz per yard square. Having many work, riding and motorcycles wax jackets over years, I noticed that different treatments will make the jacket material fill fuller and heavier. Oiler the wax used, for example paraffin over bees wax the less stiffer the jacket is. The weight of material probably won’t matter on fashion jackets like these.

Both are entry level waxed jackets. Hard to beat for the price. Ship John and Freenote and Filson still are supreme !!

Love the review! One question on the fit, how is the length on both? I have the Flint &Tender. Love the tailored fit but wish it was a little longer.

I like the fit on both, but I'm not very tall. The Flint and Tinder now has tall sizes which is pretty cool.

great comparison. I'm looking at both. So for the same size you think the Thursday is cut a little broader through the chest/shoulders and arms? I am thinking Thursday may be the better option for me.

Great review. I found this because I can't decide between the two. After watching this I still can't decide. I don't want the jacket to sit too short on my hips, however, so may the Thursday Field jacket is better because it's longer? Don't know. I'm 6 feet tall and weight 150 pounds with narrow shoulders. Which size would I wear in both? I like exact fitting, not too big, not too tight. I like the Flint & Tinder Trucker in the the new Tall size but the sleeves are too long. I wonder if Flint and Tinder can make me a Tall size with shorter sleeves?

I suppose you could check with your local tailor to see if they could shorten the sleeves for you. If they do, it would be a great jacket.

Im 6'3" 220lbs, always wear an XL or XLT (tall), im definitely not fat but im certainly not slim, and have very broad shoulders, even the XXL thursday felt way to tight in the shoulders and sleeves were quite short. Was wide as a house at the waist, and tiny at the shoulders. I bought the XLT of the Flint and Tinder and ill see what happens.

How did the XLT fit for you? Sounds like I'd be the same size & build as you and had the same issues with one of the F&T shirts. I like this jacket but worried about the fit.

@@jvt7077 I usually wear an XLT, but I ended up trying all the way to 3XLT and it was still way too tight in the shoulders. Sent it back completely

They're about even, but I'd say the Thursday leaves a little more room for layering.

Which brown jacket are you wearing in the video? It looks like a F&T but I’m not familiar with one that’s waxed in that color and has chest pockets on both sides like that. It looks great.

That's the Flint and Tinder Unlined Waxed Jacket. Great jacket once the wax on the inside wears off a bit.

Im really surprised by this video. The flint and tinder doesn't look like it fits as well as the Tuesday. And no review mentions the length of the jacket in the front, where someone may carry a knife or need to access their pockets. The flint and tinder looks shorter and the Tuesday looks like a normal length. In addition, the sizing on the website is awkward for me. The Tuesday sizing is exactly what I would expect. So, now I’m curious. Have the Tuesday on the way, if it isn’t perfect I’ll order the flint and tinder. 11/22/2024 Update: I purchased a Thursday Boot waxed canvas jacket. The fit was awful. Sent it back the next morning. Although the measurements on the website were more in line with my measurements the fit was smaller than expected. Also, generally this material come with a card on the buttons that explains the material from HS. This was not included. Overall it was just not for me. YMMV. Now off to order a Flint and Tinder.

They are both made for people with long torso. Nothing fits better than a Levi's trucker jacket. I think the filson comes close.

Something I've always wondered about these waxed jackets... when worn while driving a car, does the wax leave a residue on the seats? And what jacket are you wearing at 4:19? I like the dual chest pocket design. Great review, as always. Thanks!

Ah, that’s the Flint and Tinder unlined waxed trucker. I’ve never noticed any residue left behind. It doesn’t come off on my skin either. Thanks so much!
