What a great start to a new project. Love the flakes as well. Maybe some time I will try my hand at napping again. Awaiting part 2...nice work!!

What type of dog is Marshall? Also thank you for all the great footage, it is very helpful and interesting. Your knapping is very cool and you handle rock issues very well.

The muddy side of it looked like a huge footprint that filled in over time with the oils and sand that makes up the chert....cool ...you are SO LUCKY to have such material to work with.!

@@DakotaHorn-fv6kn it was a pretty penny😅 but I agree on the footprint!

Nicely done. But, I started to panic at the 33 minute mark. 😁 Tapping on that skinny end I was waiting for the whole thing to pop off. I would kill to have a place close to me to get tabs that big, and I'm just drooling over the spalls coming off of that beast! Are you planning a project that keeps that as one piece? If so, I look forward to seeing what you do with it.
@GulfCoastKnappingКүн бұрын
@@docv73 more or less just going for a big blade. But I agree! It can be hard to come across big pieces like this so I had to pay a pretty penny lol. I’ll have to go rewatch the 33min mark

Jake, beautiful piece of chert. Lots of spalls and flakes for many points and blades. Who is the gentleman who sells that material? Sure, I would like to get anything like stalls or flakes. Just getting back into knapping, so I'm most comfortable making smaller items. Thanks for any info.😊
