We tremendously appreciate all of your support over the years. The Folk Firearms Collective is a husband and wife team comprised of Denny Ducet and Alina Aldobrando. Our goal is to preserve the passion, art, culture and traditions of the blackpowder community and the adventurous history behind it. Should we fail to immerse ourselves and educate each other in this rich history, posterity will wither and cease, leaving the younger generations to never experience the joy of such times. Join us as we disconnect from all the modern noise and chaos.
To support our channel, please feel free to become a channel member and gain access to exclusive content. All proceeds go to powder, ball, and associated accoutrements featured in our videos.
We humbly thank the Flathead Valley Muzzleloaders Club for their dedication to this craft, the land on which we shoot, and most importantly-their willingness to partake in this preservation of history. Of all the folks we’ve been honored to spend time with, these gents and gals are the greatest of our friends. We are forever grateful for their influence and education in our own lives through the course of our traditional muzzleloading journey.

A bit of truth there in the humor -- many of the lead balls were hand cast in the old days (and not factory made) and had inconsistent quality Sometimes physical deformities manifested, where the lead ball retained a bit of the sprue where it wasn't trimmed off properly (not perfectly round) thus affecting the ballistics. Sometimes the lead had impurities or voids inside that affected the balance and ballistics of the ball as well..

That means a lot. I like to think of it as we are inspired by the muzzleloaders everywhere! Perhaps we inspire one another and that’s what makes this hobby/life so grand and enjoyable. It’s quite an uplifting endeavor to pursue the traditions here. On occasion I see the intact pursuit of traditional muzzleloading on the east coast with envy as well! Believe me we strive to keep these videos coming with every bit of free time we have. If I could - it’s all I would do. Keep enjoying the videos and we will keep them coming.

@ChristoffRevan
@ChristoffRevan 5 ай бұрын
All countries have a "rocky" history, what are you talking about? If it's slavery, guess what - all ethnicities and all regions of the world have enslaved each other, and in terms of the US...the majority of slaves sourced to the US were captured by OTHER AFRICANS! Also, out of all the slaves transported to the Americas, the US had the least amount of slaves...whereas the majority of them went to Central America / Caribbean and South America (the largest portion to Brazil, which btw was under Portuguese control). If anything there should be an outcry against the Portuguese and Spanish since they had the most slaves, and heck...Portugal literally kept their colonial empire even up to the Cold War era!

All countries are bad, but a majority also have good qualities...and in many cases the good qualities outweigh the bad. Try to have a more nuanced view of history instead of being black and white

It’s a 1760 Bumford trade gun or Carolina Type G. The blue was taken from paint chip samples of the time, and there is historical records of these blue trade guns as you just mentioned traded with Indians and others at that time. Some were taken from an Arsenal during the revolution and used against the British by a boys regiment. The vine pattern is taken off a Bumford trade gun (original) featured in the Museum back I believe in Williamsburg. Clay Smith is a renowned gun maker of Williamsburg and he built this particular trade gun.

Looks like a whole lot of fun. Also a prime example on the efficacy of modern firearms. So many missed targets. You would be better off with a good bow provided you had straight arrows and the skill to wield it. So much more difficult and uncertain relying on the craftsmanship of someone else's hand for your musket/rifle. The only things in your control would be the ball/bullet and the technique. Even the powder would be beyond you. I"m betting they are all competent marksmen. Just shows the limitations of the platform(s).

1. I'd love to see some interviews about the shooters, the firearms, the artwork, the artisans, etc. 2. I'd love to see larger targets and some scoring. You'd have to split by type, but most seemed to be close misses, which doesn't really show who is better. The competition could also include fast reload skills. 3. While I prefer the main camera operator's camera work, I think her being in front of the camera shows that this is a broad hobby that isn't exclusive to old guys.
