Only Sobers really comes close to his All-Round figures (Batting Average >20 above his Bowling average). Flintoff did have some epic batting innings, but didn't have the consistency of the likes of Kallis.

This is for today's young generation: Kallis was a tier1 batsman and Freddie was probably not in the same league of Waqar, Wasim, McGrath and others, so perhaps a tier 1.5-2 bowler. Nonetheless, this guy could do what he did here and trouble the best of the best. that's why every run in that era was earned.

@@suhas17101995 Stokes is a better batsman than flintoff. Stokes is not a bad bowler either. I still remember when Anderson and co. Couldn't dismiss virat (I think in Nottingham 2019 test) Stokes was the one who got kohlis wicket and Cleaned up the tail. I can definitely confirm that the good all-rounders of the previous era are way better than the good all-rounders of this era.

atmospheric Slideshow I get Flintoff goes on those magic spells but Stokes has more 5fers and First Class wickets than Flintoff. Granted Stokes bowls longer spells but if you put their statistics side by side it’s probably close. I understand Stokes couldn’t ever bowl a spell like the one to Ponting at Edgbaston, or Kallis in 2008 but Stokes takes wickets just as if not more consistently than Flintoff did and that’s without being the teams main strike bowler

If not for injuries Flintoff is one of the all time great fast bowlers and he’d have a record to reflect it. One of the few cricketers I’ve seen who can light up a cricket match at the highest level.

On his day Flintoff was one of the most dangerous bowlers to play the game of cricket. He has produced some beautiful spells in his career..In ashes that exceptional over to ponting. He could consistently bowl at a speed of 145 to 150. It's injuries which has shortened his career. One of those players which any captain would want in his team.. champion bowler.

Because Freddie was bowling from wide of the crease there was a blind spot that many of the South African batsmen had experienced in that match. The Umpires did not fix the problem. Thus the batsmen could not see the ball. Given that, South Africa won that match by 5 wickets. 2 aug 2008. Google it.
