Hi Lisa. I too bought the Fairyland grayscale from Black River Art. I was dazzled by the cover but was highly disappointed by their line of books. There is too much black so coloring is minimal. This is how grayscale first came out. Now the newer grayscale have toned it down to just shading of forms. I have also found Kimberly Hawthorne books are difficult to colour as well. They are photographs and not too dark but the colouring is difficult to apply to large grey spaces like landscapes. These are 2 series of books I no longer buy. You can still return yours, too late for me.I especially liked seeing Ikuko. Thank you.

I have the Elegant Faces book on my wish list. And I am now coloring in Elegant Beauties book, and I love it! Alena Lazareva is soon coming out with a new Pirate book, and anxiously await her new book. Many Grayscale books are just too dark.

I use pan pastels on the really dark grayscale or bright neons highlights colors. It can be a challenge but I try to accentuate rather than cover. So it’s more like illumination. I have several of their books including dream world.

I agree Fairyland is way too dark. Some images are just meant to be black and white, in my opinion.

Books by Black River Art are hit and miss for me. I love their Spring Girls, but Summer girls has sat on my shelf untouched. The Alena L. is the queen of grayscale, imho! I like the double images and often do color the images in the second set. According to the guys behind Jade Summer, books cost the same w/ or w/out the second set. Just think the second set is perfect for a gramma to share w/ her precocious granddaughter when she's ready to start coloring along with gramma. *lol*

That last book would be pretty just to rip out and frame just black and white

Hi Lisa, what grayscale books do you recommend for a beginner thats not chibi girls?. I go to amazon but fall into an endless pit of choices. Would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Any of Jade Summer’s other grayscale books would be a great choice. They are about the easiest grayscale coloring books out there.

I just ordered my first greyscale coloring book, does anyone have Sweet Dreams by Alena Lazereva
@LisasColoringCorner3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I have that one. Alena’s grayscale is just a tad more challenging than something like Jade Summer.

That first flip is too much like Damita Victoria. These images I swear I have seen and NOT Evelyn Liza? Those eyebrows??? Really? Please compare thoroughly. Now that LAST book? Only thing I colored dark EVER was a pic in Colouring Heaven Alchemy issue. I don't care for any Black River Art. I heard some years back that they do not design, but use stock photos....and those colorful photos that they grayscaled come out TOO DARK
