I am guessing he was anchored under the bridge or got snagged on the bottom and that Current flipped him.

Not anchored. We were trying to pass through and the current caught him sideways, caught the skeg and FLIP. That fast.

Hobies have a huge misconception that they cant flip over and false sense of security because of it. Did he have his life jacket charged? I never knew it either but you have to charge the self inflating life jackets before they work.

Agreed. Hobies are too heavy to be responsive in bad weather and currents. If you search for 'flipped my kayak or capsized kayak you'll immediately see the majority are Hobie PA's. For what you pay for them, they should have hatches that do not leak as well. For as long as they have been in business, you'd think they would have fixed this crucial safety issue by now.

Try doing that in the ocean a night ! I did for 40 min could get it turned right sided to much rip currents

Wow how deep is it under the bridge

Caleb Vickers depth finder says around 8 foot before the bridge and drops to around 20 right at the bridge on the ocean side of it which is the direction we were going.
