I know I was watching and then he said this guy who does wood working on "Flipping Drwers" I screamed and said OMGosh I watch Jay and Mando! Been watching even before he got his beautiful cat, he just had the neighborhood cats coming over. I so love watching and listening to Jay he's so calm and soothing. I Had found "Flipping Drawers" long before I found Mack at "Midwest Magic Cleaning" Another one I just found, she may not be for everyone, but she is "Vivian Tries", she does the Dollar Tree dupes to Brand stores and sees if they are better or worse.

I laughed so hard when Mando knocked that thing into the drawer! He’s not much help, but he’s an adorable supervisor. I have a slight weakness for art deco pieces. The carved detail on the doors of this piece is interesting. Chocolate and coffee are ALWAYS a good mix! The gold wax and hardware is just beautiful. I swear I could see that wood breathe a big sigh of relief after the restoration, because it looked smothered under all of that paint.

I love that you woke up with the rope around you. We used to wake up with several toys strewn about the bed thanks to one of our cats. She’s nearly 17 now so it doesn’t happen often now. I adore art deco pieces, so despite the many hours required to restore it, it looks fantastic. Just wish I you weren’t so far from Australia!

Just in case you don’t know, the green “fabric” is baize, used for cutlery drawers (& billiard table tops)! It’s usually wool or cotton, with a felt like finish. It helps stop cutlery (especially silver & silver plated cutlery) from becoming scratched & tarnished. (On billiard tables it helps the balls roll really smoothly). Wow! Absolutely stunning result - you're very talented (and patient!), I love the sanded transformation before you decide the finish. It looks so fresh. Then you transform the piece again! My neighbour has a young Bengal like yours that stalks my indoor cat through the windows of my house, upstairs too - climbs on my conservatory roof. They fight like crazy through the windows. I'm in my 70's now, but I remember these sideboards well. My Mother had one similar, it also had a drawer with divisions in it for cutlery. The green baize lining would have been to protect the wood and to stop the cutlery getting scratched . She kept a bottle of sherry in the cupboard underneath, which was only brought out for Christmas or funeral wakes !!!! 😶..... It was a solid piece of furniture . Well done for bringing back this beautiful piece of furniture.

Wow Jay, your work is excellent. In the 80's i worked in a shope that stripped furniture. In the old day's we suited up with rubber aprins , rubber boots, rubber heavy duty gloves and face mask. The stripper can in 55 gal barrels, and with a pump to recycle the stripper, we scruber the furniture with plastic brushes. Thoes were the days. When you strip funiture it looks like a gentleman's sport. You are so good.

I really admire how you, and other KZbinrs, can take a piece of furniture and painstakingly bring it back to life. I only work on pieces purchased for our home but the process on some of them wears me out and seems to take absolutely forever…and there is always a tool I need that I don’t have in my arsenal. Never fails. Regrettably, I’ve put a few unfinished projects in the dumpster because even looking at them one more day was too depressing. A huge shout-out for sticking with a project to the end. You make it look easy but it certainly is not.

Wow, the design on the front is so much more noticeable now. It was almost insignificant when it was painted, but it really stands out now. It's such a nicely designed sideboard, and now it can live on for another 80 years or so.

I know you said earlier in the video that it took you a while to finish because you just weren't feeling the piece. I get that so well, too. I crocheted a bedspread one time and gave it to a friend. After letting the dog turn and dig and claw the middle of the bed, she brought it back to me and asked if I could fix it. You have a glorious result and no one will ever appreciate what you did to create it. That's hurtful. Hang on to it.

I am a huge Art Deco supporter and anything that can be saved makes me so happy. I’m sure you were cursing the darn thing after a few days but wow!!!…what a beautiful result! The style of this era is exquisite and the best in my opinion, though I do love some mid-century pieces too. Mando is gorgeous and him and Hugo sure aren’t much assistance are they but they are having too much fun! Whenever I sit down to relax I’m always straight on to KZbin and straight onto flippingdrawers. Love the challenges too! If or when you retire, I’ll be first in line for buying the whole workshop, I need it! 😍 Thanks Jay for the great content!
