I love these vids, I have been using them for the past month after I gave up passively watching the other popular physics vids. The video quality is excellent although I would like to suggest a lapel mic, I think it would reduce the echo on the teaching scenes.
@FlippingPhysics9 жыл бұрын
Jan Domingo Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely look into using a lapel mic. I film in my basement which is acoustically very "live" and produces that echo. A lavalier mic hadn't really occurred to me, maybe it's because it's just another thing to buy...

Mr. Palmer, First of all, thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort to make these awesome videos! I appreciate people like you! I do have a question though. When the rotational inertia of the sphere rolling down the ramp is increased, doesn't its rotational speed decrease? And doesn't decreasing the rotational speed decrease the rotational kinetic energy of the ball rolling down the ramp because the rotational speed is squared in the rotational kinetic energy formula? I know I am wrong, but can you explain why? Thank you, sir! And say hello to Bo, Billy, and Bobby for me!

@shikhargupta66263 жыл бұрын
Well, this is a review, not an in-depth teaching video. I'm sure he has more in-depth videos like what you are describing as well. This video assumes you have already learned the topic, and grasping these long-winded things and explanations should not be a problem if you have already learned the topic.

If an object slides down a frictionless ramp, all Potential energy height = kinetic energy, is this the same if it roles without slipping down a ramp with friction?
@FlippingPhysics6 жыл бұрын
Nope. Rolling will include rotational kinetic energy, sliding will not.
@vrishabsathish5117 жыл бұрын
ok i have a quick question... During examples when a tire rolls down a hill, there will be gravitational pot energy turning into kinetic energy linear and rotational kinetic energy. What happens when the tire slips? Oh and what about Uint? BTW amazing channel with best videos ever!!!
@FlippingPhysics7 жыл бұрын
Yes, as a tire rolls down a hill its gravitational potential energy is converted into translational and rotational kinetic energy. If there is slipping between the tire and the hill then some energy will be converted to internal energy via work due to friction: www.flippingphysics.com/intro-wf.html
