RE: modding, you gotta start somewhere. I first started playing with modding by just trying to _tweak_ existing mods to my taste. And digging deeper and deeper as I did that over time. And I've, as a result, learned far more C# than I ever expected to (since most Unity games are modded in C#). Just dig in and do small stuff, small tweaks, and go from there.

@@Flipsie Was gunna say, your description of how ChatGPT "learns" really isn't that different from how _we_ learn. We are faced with an unknown problem, we make a guess based on any relevant past experience we have, and we're either rewarded or not for that answer. If rewarded, we reinforce that answer and commit it to memory, and if not, we discard it, and perhaps remember it as being _not_ the right answer. In fact, the way our proto-AIs learn is directly _based_ on our inferences about how _we_ learn. AI research is very literally the science of pedagogy applied to algorithmic design. As for prime numbers, that's something ChatGPT was never _designed_ to be good at. Any computer program, if coded to do so, could in relatively short order tell you if any given number is prime or not with perfect accuracy, but ChatGPT isn't a computational algorithm, it's a large language model. It's intended to solve arbitrary non-deterministic natural language problems using a massive volume of past data. Mathematical equations are one of the things it is very definitely not optimized towards solving. And yes, the public school system, at least here in the US, is actual garbage at properly _teaching._

1:50:30 I believe doing it with shorter segments is the way. Because aligning pistons without phantom forces is a pain in the butt (curse you keen for not making piston exactly 5m when retracted and 15m while fully extended). I have better results by using hinge, turn it 90 degrees, then piston with connectors and merge blocks because the hinge kinda absorb ish the phantom forces (the tolerance between hinge base and hinge head) configured in 2 sides total to minimize lateral movement (you can go for 4 sides if you want). The rig moves with 7.5m increments (3 large grid blocks) with each segments contain a 2 way conveyor to 4 way conveyor/junction split to 2 connectors and another 2 way conveyor but with 2 merge blocks on each opposing sides. I believe I showed you my rig before right Splits? or not? but here it is on action (just shallow drill though) for anyone interested kzbin.infoqL1-ASByP4I?si=LIJ_iF3dhjEo_X0r so far with the heavy mining drill mod it can go up to 100-150m in zero G depending on what material drilled and how the ejectors are setup before it shakes uncomfortably. With vanilla drill (5x5 configuration), it can go for 250m in zero G, in earthlike straight down, it can go 150m but slowed down and the pulling rate (sorter collecting) increased, because with the heavy mining drill mod it's gonna go heavy reaaallllyyy quick and overwhelm the pistons/hinges.

@Flipsie I started playing Ares At War at the same planet, and it seems it is impossible to build Jump Drive as the planet is missing some resources. Most visible is lack of silver. THe mod also requires some non standard items to build it, that require even Uranium. Seems the best bet is to scavenge existing Jump drive from wrecked ship, as they follow the normal blueprint. I unfortuantely grinded the only Jump drive I found. Now I will scan the planet for more ships of same type and hope for the best, then attach that Jump drive to my ship. I don't see too many ways to leave planet, as other planets are quite far away. Have you thought about the exit plan?

Whenever someone claims that the things that are currently advertised as AI aren't actually artificial intelligences, I always wonder if they know the difference between "artificial intelligence" and "general artificial intelligence". But I agree that it is at least _debatable_ if the current technology counts as AI. I would call them "dreamers", because all they do is dream up content; with the same variability in both consistency and how well they are standing up to scrutiny that my dreams have. And I agree with Shadow on using AI to generate code. Coding is 20% about writing the code and 80% about debugging (or re-writing) the code. If you used chatGPT to write the code, then sure, you've checked off the "writing the code" part that you are being graded for, but you wouldn't be able to change the code. Especially if you used chatGPT because you wouldn't have been able to write the code yourself. If you need to do that, then you for sure won't be good enough to edit someone else's code.

And that they just don't get hit by the interior turret because they just don't get Seeing by them, especially when they're just like point Blank to the turret. Is why I play pvp that banned hydro man and use grinders on ships before taking over the ship by kill all the crew before the end of the battle. Well, "AI" can mean multiple things. Many people hear "AI" and think of _self-aware_ (ie. sentient) AI from science fiction, but the term "artificial intelligence" doesn't necessarily imply _sentience._ It can just as easily describe any form of advanced decision-making or analysis system, especially one based on principles similar to our own neural structuring/mechanics. We don't have _any_ "true" AIs (ie. self-aware AIs) today, at least that we're aware of, nor do we even have a theoretical framework for how to make one. For that matter, we arguably lack the _philosophical_ framework to even effectively _define_ sentience. The most commonly cited and most well-know "test" for artificial intelligence, the Turing Test, isn't actually even a test of sentience or self-awareness at all, but a test of the ability of a program to _fool humans_ into thinking it is human. So ya, I'd say trying to assert ChatGPT "isn't AI" is somewhere between pedantic and misunderstanding how the term is used in computer science. The "intelligence" in that term isn't exclusively a singular noun, as in "an intelligence". It's just as often used as the abstract sense to describe the intelligence level of a program or algorithm in the same way we might describe a person as "intelligent". In that sense, it's _implicitly relative,_ not absolute, ie. it is describing the person as _more intelligent_ than someone else, or than some arbitrary hypothetical baseline. We take it for granted that humans are self-aware, so describing someone as "intelligent" wouldn't make sense if that was the only connotation of that term. As an example, we also use the term "emotional intelligence". Clearly that's not intended to describe a separate self-aware entity composed of our emotions, it's intended to describe a point on a spectrum of maturity and decision-making and such around handling our emotions. The same is true, much of the time, of "artificial intelligence". It doesn't have to refer to _an entity_ that is both artificial and intelligence (and by implication, sentient), it can just as easily describe "intelligence" as in a system or framework of advanced decision-making and analysis that is of an artificial origin. I'd also point out that even from a colloquial sense, "AI" has never really exclusively implied sentience. Opponents in games (ex. Starcraft) are often called "AI opponents", despite lacking any form of sentience or self-awareness (as far as we know).
@Flipsie
@Flipsie 9 ай бұрын
No you're all missing the point, I'm arguing that ChatGPT isn't intelligent, it's also quite clear it's also not 'an intelligence'.
@KaedysKor
@KaedysKor 9 ай бұрын
@@Flipsie yet it's quite a bit _more_ intelligent than many other systems and algorithms, which is the sense of "intelligence" _typically_ used in the field of AI research. You may argue that it's not "intelligent" from the perspective of knowledge and decision-making, but at a fundamental level, what _is_ knowledge but synthesizing patterns from data, and then applying those patterns to new unknown problems? Obviously it isn't the goal, or at least the primary goal, of basically any current AI research to make a properly self-aware AI.
