We all have those days lol! Been having some trying to finish the garage to have a place to restore my mini. Had to abandon it to go offshore and work for 3 weeks. Don’t they know I have too much work to do to be at work😂😂😂 anyway we didn’t get the felt on roof yet and pissing rain, put up a tarp and built a tandoor oven today to break the boredom! Watch this space to see how the food turn out tomorrow

Braver man than me, there are cars that have been abandoned for decades that are less rotten than that, really is a shame. Doing well so far on it though and after watching the budget clubman series I know you'll get there one piece at a time lol

Yeah I have heard the same. A lot of people said it was a parts car. But everything can be saved you have just got to want it enough. Thanks for watching buddy 👍

Simpson's Classics Are there any plans on when the Classic Mini van will be restored? I can’t wait to see that on the channel!
@SimpsonsClassics4 жыл бұрын
I would love to say very soon but we need to finish the clubby off first. And maybe find her a new home 😔 We also don’t plan to fully restore the van it will retain its patina but have a nice lump under the bonnet
@owencook23324 жыл бұрын
Simpson's Classics I was originally going to keep the patina on my 1978 Mini 1000, but It came to the point that it would need a full restoration, otherwise it would be unsafe... especially after I found large holes patched with concrete, and eminence amounts of filler. Can’t forget the floor repairs held in with seam sealer!!! It definitely lives up to its name ‘@rustbucket59’ , maybe if I chose a different name, it wouldn’t be so rusty!!! 😂🤪
@SimpsonsClassics4 жыл бұрын
Owen Cook haha every mini has the middle name of “rust” You will smash the restoration of that little car buddy the van has holes etc but I plan to colour match it all and really focus on how well the van will drive and handle rather than the looks as for me that’s more important..

Having seen what you've said about later Mini's I wouldn't have one, anyway like you I prefer the earlier stuff, me it's 70's/80's era Minis for me.

Hey Marc, I'm back rewatching these videos again 👌🏻 just jumping in to the flitch panels on mine now. Quick ? For you. When you fit the new panel should it sit out past the pillar much once bolted In place ?? I'm not using genuine panels so they could be off a bit.
@SimpsonsClassics2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian thank you for watching again I appreciate that. Yes the panel wants to sit a little bit past the pillar I have had to trim and tidy these back before being pattern panels when it comes to fitting the a panel. All the best buddy

I would say it’s much like anything later in rover production. Electrics, sensors and working issues but if it’s been looked after you should be fine 👍

Yo! Love your vids they will become really useful too me. I've just started a attempt of a restoration on a 1987 mini Mayfair. I'm KZbin documenting it too if u would like to check it out? I've got a question about the finch panel repair.... Is it doeable from the inside of the car without removing the front end? I'm planning on fitting a removable front end probs fibreglass so I can attempt it your way otherwise. Also, would this repair fix the drivers hinge too? Mines pretty rusty as you can see in my vids (or upcoming) What would be the best way to fix this? Bracing be needed etc? Love your channel!! Keep up the awesome work ✌️
@SimpsonsClassics Жыл бұрын
Hey glad your enjoying this series. Yes I will go check your channel out to 👍 Yes there lower part of the Flitch can be done with the front end on but you would struggle to get access with the front end in the way to do the whole panel. Yes if your take the front off to fit a fibre glass front then you can get in to the that hinge panel etc. Regarding bracing just a simple bar along the door opening would be fine. thanks for watching all the best with your project 👍
@professionalbodger Жыл бұрын
@@SimpsonsClassics appreciate that buddy! Been binge watching your 89 build for tips haha. Once I get the front end off IL ask you to take a look on the channel to see what you think the best option would be. If you would be ok with that? Ive already ordered a panel repair. I'm hoping it correct as it stated R/H so i'd guess drivers side 😅 I've got rear light panel damage too. Not sure if I can pull it out or have to replace! It's a big project for sure

Hey no worries, we get them from all over we have been in the mini scene for over 15 years so have many people we know as good contacts to find them. Also forums and eBay are great places to look. Thanks for supporting the channel 👍
