I've only had one really serious accident and that was 35 years ago in a 760 GLE. Aquaplaned at around 120 km/h. Catapulted into the air through a ditch and rolled over several times. Came to a stop on the wheels. The engine and radio were still running. Ignition off, seat belt removed, door opened without any problems and got out. Apart from painful red marks on my shoulder from the seat belt, no external injuries. The next morning it was as if I had aching muscles all over my body. The Volvo was beyond repair, but it saved my life.

Hi Marc, as an avid subscriber to your channel I have owned and do own many classic Minis. However I have just seen this video which is great. I have today bought a Y reg pre production RC50. Chassis No 155 so was nice to watch this. Cheers. Mark.

had my v70 p2 2.4 170 petrol auto facelift 4 years now and i love it . have spent a small fortune on it to get it imaculate inside and out, people often comment on how clean it is . i have just fitted a new steering wheel, half leather and alcantara a bit thicker with large thumb grips. the old one was badly worn guess the previous one owner had a ring on his right hand. new front door seals still available from volvo. front bumper and spoiler repainted with new fog lights, bumper removed, so all new clips and top rubber seal all from volvo. new horns as bumper off, new condensor as it was in poor condition and a good clean up before reasembly . wheels refurbished new bolts and cenre caps, and a nice set of michelin crossclimates, and a bunch of other stuff. its nearly there now just a couple of jobs to do. i know what you are thinking as so many people have said to me you must be mad, but its cheaper than buying a modern pile of junk. i do have another car and i own a garage . but i just love my old volvo and i drive it most of the time. is that sad.
@SimpsonsClassics6 күн бұрын
Nothing sad about that at all! It sounds like a great car. The P2’s are a good car and great value for money. Yours sounds like one very loved vehicle

@@SimpsonsClassics one owner full history with all invoices , no kids no pets no smoke. completely standard. every year he drove to italy, serviced every 6000 miles. looked at so many miss described or modified ones that were rubbish. took me over a year to find a good genuine vehicle. i am super fussy. i had to drive a long way to get it, but very happy i waited.even a very nice colour, dawn blue pearl.

Incredible job, Marc. Loving the series, as I love every episode. Somewhat behind again, a difficult year, lost dad on 1st September after a 5.5 year battle with heart, lung, and kidney failure. Keep up the great work, I can see from the thumbnails that you are... 😊

My Nan bought 2 early 80's big bumper 244 saloons in the early 90's. Brown and one Blue. My Dad her son had the blue one, with a GLT leather interior. We had the scruffy one that a dog had eaten the rear seat headrests/ top but still comfy but blew blue smoke on startup. Around a year later needed a 4WD and bought a Subaru Bratt pickup and 1600cc MK1 subaru as moved one mile off road in Herefordshire. Auctioned the 244 at Leominster car auctions and got £200 more than my Nan had paid for it. Blue one sadly my Dad killed it by not putting antifreeze in and cracked the block and core plug!

Well done! You guys seem to be having entirely too much fun. Did you ever figure out what that squealing noise was? One of you said alternator, but I seem to recall it making that noise when first started before the alternator belt was on. Keep up the good work!

My old Mum’s boyfriend kindly lent us his 245 wagon back in the eighties to take on holiday to Wales. (Apart from my late father’s 74 Granada Ghia Estate) It was one of the most comfortable cars we’d ever traveled in those days…lovely cars 👍❤️
