I got started in RC flying about 7 months ago. I've spent quite a bit of cash on various planes. Most fly pretty well. I built a Tiny Trainer last weekend and flew it about 10 times today. I am blown away by how well this inexpensive little plane flies. For pure fun you can't beat it. It does well as a relaxing floaty flyer, but also can do some pretty cool aerobatics. I flew mine with 1000mAh 2S and 850mAh 3S batteries. The fact that it cost so little money takes away a lot of the stress of flying more expensive planes.

No Winglets? What they dont save gas on an electric plane? lol. Just finished building the trainer and excited. I bought a cheap 2212/6T 2200kv motor radio and esc combo. It didnt fly so well with a heavier foam plane I have so maybe this lighter plane will work better. Or is this esc garbage? Ive heard good things about these motors but not even sure if its the one i have. Someone said "Get a 250 size motor" I sais "What?" All the brushess motors Ive seen have 4 digits so Ill have to study on that

Josh, congrats to all you guys on the success of your youtube videos. and business ventures. As a retired A&P mechanic and long time model builder(mostly 48th scale plastic A/C) I would like to compliment you on your aerodynamic knowledge and your build/design skills. Most of all I'd like to tell you that you have a great gift.........the ability to Instruct.........I've done a lot of "teaching" in my life and most of the people I've attempted to "impart knowledge" to have "gotten IT". It's not a simple thing to do........but, it is easier to do if you really enjoy what you're doing. Again Congratulations and keep up the good work........p.s. Watched your bio video...did you ever pursue and get your private pilot's license ? I never got mine and it's one of my "should haves". JRW

Nobody can "Show the camera" what youre doing like you do. Some of it is the camera man (your son right?) but it seems like you instinctively know how to move yourself and the project without getting in the way and we all see exactly what your teaching. I dont know if anyone else has noticed so i had to say something. I really appreciate it. Is there a class you can take it or was it all trial and error? Most guys stick with the "Hold on, let me move the camera" and ya still dont see what theyre talkin bout. THANKS

Joseph Freeman you're lucky! Goodwill shops around here try to sell everything at damn near the brand new retail price of the item. Such a rip off. I don't even bother going in unless I need a transformer out of a microwave for a project or something...and even then I'm paying $25 for a unit that's gross, beat to hell and was under $40 brand new. An RC TX would be the same way once they googled it and seen the New price. You are lucky man!

I just started this build after building the nutball and FT Flyer. This is a lot more challenging build. I'm building from scratch using tiled plans. I had the fuselage cut out correctly but mis-judged because I did not account for the B fold. So I cut about a cm off; then realized I had it right to begin with. So back to the drawing board. Going to keep at it because this looks like a great plane.

vista7 I finished this build. As mentioned I had a few measurements off on the fueselage, but it flies great as a 3 channel plane. Suggestion on motor combo - I used 2300kv Power Up, 2s 500mah, 10 amp ESC, and a 7035/7inch prop. It's not overly powerful but it is a smooth and very easy going flier. It's easily the best flying plane I have.

Nice Tutorial. But what's actually wrong with using an aperture in your camera where everything is IN FOCUS? 50% of what you see is out of focus, and it's continuously pumping. I find this extremely annoying. If you can't get it right with autofocus, why don't you just do it manually and set it to be sharp between 10-40 inches? If you have so much knowledge about planes, you must have someone who knows a little about filming.

Ok. Too many comments so hope this isnt too redundant: Josh - I just bought this kit and you build it wrong in this video. Your horizontal stab is upside down, placing the slit on the right. And thus your control arms are not aligned. You should fix this video, I built it wrong because I followed your lead. 😂 Love you guys!!!

I've been a quad pilot for about 1.5 years and finally ventured into scratch building of the Trainer as my first foray into fixed wing flight. I built my Trainer after watching the excellent video here (with my share of mistakes "WTF? The plans are mirrored???"!!) I completely enjoyed the build experience, and maidened this morning for my first ever fixed wing flight! I WAS AMAZED at how this thing responded to my inexperienced command inputs! Best flight experience ever! About 1-1/2 minutes in air until the gust of wind flipped it over and sent me back to the shop for a couple of hot-glue repairs and a new prop! I CAN'T WAIT for a calm day! THANK YOU FLITE TEST!!!!!!!!! I AM HOOKED!!!! Simple Soarer is next!!

Flitetest crew, some people want to make the best of one piece of foam board and use ever little bit. I think there should be a challenge where the crew members try to make the most efficient yet effective model using one average sheet of foam board. I say that because I recently made a plane with very little scrap all I had was the pieces from making angle cuts for the wings and small corners for squeegees. Thank y'all if you at least thought about it Or even read this.

This question is directed to anyone who can answer. For the aileron, Josh used a Y-cable harness. the servos moved opposite to each other... Here is the question: can i use the Y cable and reverse 1 servo so that both servos move in the same direction? The applications ill use that for is to make a landing gear setup and save on number of channels Another application is that if my plane is too big for a servo i can use 2 servos moving in same direction to control the elevator

yes u can do, rotate the servo body itself not the connector plug to receiver....i hope u already know the receiver and servo have polarities... dont wanna plug signal into ground and vice versa...u can use 2 servo to pull one big control surface just connect them in parallel and watch and rotate the servo body accordingly.

Important is weight and volts of the lipo. Check the Flite test website.

Should I buy a CW motor Or CCW motor? I know you want the propeller to spin counter clockwise. So if you have a CW motor spinning counter clockwise then it would constantly be keeping the nut tight on the propeller. Is that correct?

Micah Blackwood if u use cw motor that is spinning ccw it will slowly loosen up. You better use locktite or something then it will work.

Hi guys, just bought this kit - when we previously build the mustang the brown paper was increasingly difficult to cut - even with a stanley blade and a model knife kit we bought - is it okay to just remove the paper?
@rakete111

i dont think so, the paper holds it in place mostly on bavel cuts or where parts need to move

Is it possible to add wheels or will that make it unstable?

Ok so I want to build or buy a quad copter, but I am struggling on what to buy, I want an fpv quad with a 4k camera on it for sure and a nice gimbal I also want it to be fairly large. Preferably large enough for 15" props because I want it to be able to carry a large battery for longer flight times is there anybody who can help me on some advice for a parts list of even a good pre-built quad? I really really like the turbo ace matrix i but I would like to look around first... please help!

It would be great if you could tell what the target empty weight and AUW are for each of the builds.

+kardRatzinger The target weight is on the plans. 193g without battery. In the glider version with two servos, battery, and receiver, I had to add a lot of weight to the front to get the CG right. I ended up with an AUW of 288g. I suspect the motorized version's AUW would be similar once balanced. I'm considering lengthening the nose a tiny bit to cut the weight down.

What do tilled plans mean?? Is it harder than the regular or easier and in what way?

Means it will print on 8X11 paper in a printer. Just tape the numbered papers together.

Todd Kuhrt do you know how to get it so that it prints one the entire page without leaving a margin i tried changing it but it still leaves space
@ScottCalkins
@ScottCalkins 9 жыл бұрын
99.9 of printers cannot print all the way to the edge of the paper. Use the stock settings and cut them down as needed.

Make sure Scale 100% you may have margin but line up dotted lines/ overlap paper or trim it. You have to eye it sometimes.
