Brendan Fraser won the Oscar for this movie.... Hong Chau also got a nomination for her performance. And you'll be happy to know this film also won an Oscar for the makeup and prosthetics team.

Some people were mad that the job wasnt given to a morbidly obese actor or that Fraser didnt gain like 300 pounds to play the role. Some people are just morons.
@PowerDiva Жыл бұрын
@@lolmao500some people have no idea what goes into making a movie or that acting is more than just saying lines on a paper. It's a hard job that takes skill and you can't just trust anyone to lead a film. Brendan Fraser is a good actor, but he was also the key to getting the movie recognized so that the story could be told. You gotta have a bit of star power sometimes to get attention and make sure people actually see your movie.

Being a Aronofsky movie I wasn't expecting a happy ending at all, but still this was SO HARD to watch, seeing such a lovable man, even though he made a few mistakes, treating himself so bad, not accepting any help and slowly accepting death killed me. I believe that knowing Fraser's personal story made it even worse, because just like you I love the man and it hurts too bad to see a loved one like that. Oscar more than deserved for him but Sadie Sink and Hong Chau were freaking awesome as well.

Nick, I could not have said it better. I grew up watching Brendan Fraser movies from George of the Jungle to Dudley Do-Right and the day I found out he won the Best Actor Oscar, I was jubilant beyond the moon! This man truly deserved every accolade for this movie.

My wife and I watched this in the theater. When the credits started, I don’t think I could talk. It is the only movie that has ever literally left me speechless. It was probably the most impactful ending I have ever watched.

I wasn't able to watch this movie, had to stop less than half way in. Having a friend in roughly the same position as Charlie, and my having been a full-time sole carer for a family member in his final years, it just hit too hard. I couldn't do it. But I'm glad I watched your reaction to it; seeing and hearing, and feeling, your reactions to this helped me get through it. Experiencing someone else's end is a beautiful horror, having someone to share that with doesn't make it easier, but it does make it better. So thanks.

I would love to see a reaction to that one, though I don’t think it would be that big of a draw for others, as a lot of people missed it when it was in theaters in 1999 (and yet that was an incredibly busy year at theaters and a lot of people also missed 10 Things I Hate About You, Lake Placid, Dogma, The Iron Giant, and Galaxy Quest that same year but discovered them years later and now many enjoy watching reactions to them, so who knows). It was funny that one of the films that outshined Blast From the Past at the box office that year was another Brendan Fraser film (which I’m sure he spent way more time promoting): The Mummy.

A little lesser known Brendan Fraser film (during his prime days) that as Fraser fans,, you might enjoy is "God's and Monsters". Based on the true story of- Once a powerful Hollywood director best known for "Frankenstein" and "The Bride of Frankenstein," James Whale (Ian McKellen) is long since retired and in increasingly poor health. His stalwart housekeeper, Hanna (Lynn Redgrave), quietly disapproves of Whale's faceless, nameless parade of young gay lovers, but when the director takes an interest in new gardener Clayton Boone (Brendan Fraser) a former Marine and Korean War veteran, it seems to be for something more than his usual casual conquest. Poignant, dramatic, sad, funny, well acted.

I thought he should have disinherited the bratty daughter and told her to take a hike. I don't do well watching irritating teens. It was so good to see Brendan Fraser come back to films and win the Oscar. He deserved the acclaim.

I hate that despite how well they did, it felt like Sadie sinks character was overwritten. It took teen angst to a place where her character was insufferable. Like a cliche of a moody teen. Even in the end at her most emotional, I hated her.
