I think this models interpersonal interaction in a very naive light, people are lying to each other most of the time not sharing objectively viewable truths. We actually need to be able to lie to one another - so this can become even more detrimental in some contexts.

You are right - people are lying especially in short term relationsships. But this model is more about long term relationship, then lying gets difficult.

Interesting question. I see no obstacle to using the model that way - but I think it is difficult. Here you can also use Fairclough Critical Discourse Analysis - on our channel. It tells something about the hidden meaning of different words.
