These brilliant men skated along the edge of fame and rock stardom, without EVER compromising their artistic integrity. Damn good stuff. And they’re still at it to this very day!

listen to illegal immoral and fattening which is where i first heard this riff - they used eddie are you kidding instead of nicky nicky noy' - the funny part is they i think were part of the la scene as well - recording with some of these same people they paradied.

and just another band from la - the live one - where they were part of eddie the mountain - and never knew they were the emcees of sort with zappa. must have been a bit of a release of power for frank to not be able to control these guys - but it was classic

I saw Flo and Eddie at a five-band oldies concert (Spanky McFarland, Gary Puckett, the Association, & Three Dog Night were the others--great lineup for $12.50) on a NYC pier in 1984, when they were riffing on Quiet Riot and Flashdance, complete w/Flo drenching himself on stage to the tune of "Maniac". Outstanding live act, always funny, always evolving to mock and pay homage to new kinds of music.

Flo & Eddie opened for Alice Cooper after the release of their first album. I remember Mark Volman wearing a flamingo on his head that he would spin around. I also remember having to stand on the folding chairs in order to see, even though we were on the fifth row. Someone on a few rows in front of us stepped back on the chair they were standing on, and it did what it was supposed to do - fold. Just like dominoes, he went down, followed by the entire row. Two rows followed, but luckily we got down before it got to us. I'm not sure if this was the School's Out tour or Billion Dollar Babies.
