I wish their releationship were longer lived. They were perfect for Frank's style. Talented as hell, and had the right sense of humor and sense of pure entertainment. They added so much personality to what Frank did.

These guys had such great chemistry, I wish they would have stayed together as a band or at least gave us a few more albums.

Flo and Eddie, two sharp guys, good guys. The three are more like just old friends talking more than an interview. Love it. Thanks much. If you've got more, please post away.

Answers to questions: The bass player into "bottoms" is Jim Pons (they said that) The "girl with the shoe" is Nigey Lennon (if you've got nothing much happening in your life, read her disputable story of her relationship with Frank) The Winnipeg Rangers Orgy story is briefly alluded to in Nigey's and Howard's memoirs (I'm not allowed to share my theory here as to what they're not mentioning) The "stewardesses" story - I can't remember where I've read it but it's out there (in Scott Parker's book maybe?)

Really enjoyed this! A lot of fun, informative and insightful. One of the best FZ interviews to me. Thanks mate. Who was the naughty bass player?

alphaenemy Ditto. And I feel the same way about other players who were with Frank: Ike Willis, Ray White, Fowlers, Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke, Underwoods could have been with him to the end, no complaints.

One of the photos shows Ian Underwood with the Flo & Eddie incarnation of The Mothers. I didn't know he was in the fold at that point...

"Genius" is not a human thing. Creative Power is not of humans but we can CHANNEL it. FZ channeled like nobody else. If we are to use the word "genius" then he certainly was one.

This is totally what I feel about talent.Talent does not originate in the vessel, but rather the artist is an instrument of the Creative Power.

@LuneyTune72 That's "Holiday in Berlin" by Frank Zappa, available on the albums Burnt Weeny Sandwich and Ahead of Their Time (albeit not with F&E).

Is there any place where I can get a copy of the opening to this interview? The Flo and Eddie theme, I mean.

That thing Zappa did with We're Only in It for the Money and Cruising with Ruben & the Jets was really terrible, but of course Frank loved to mess around with his stuff. Fortunately, the original bass and drums sections of WOIIFTM were restored later, but as far as I know the original mix of Cruising is yet to be published. And since it's not been a particularly succesful album, we may not see it come to light any time soon.

Is there anywhere that you can buy the Flo and Eddie Show intro song???

Other members have said that Frank was not exactly innocent in the mistreatment of Scott Thunes.

I always find it strange about The Ness as he always comes across as a great bloke with a great sense of humour whenever he's being interviewed. If you doubt my word, then check this out:

I thought FZ hated these guys at this point? There's a hard diss in his book. P.S. Scott Thunes was the bass player in the story.

I wonder what the story involving the "Winnipeg Rangers" is

The band hated Scott Tunis for some reason, and it all went tit's upwards so Frank quit as it would of taken too long for him to audition and replace Tunis, plus cost more in total. Why they hated him ?? I think he just didn't take much nonsense. Frank still stood up for Tunis til his last. SO Frank had no beef with him.
