Great video John. You don't know how much this video has cheered me up! I have been feeling a little down over the last few days so I was trying to decide where I could go and do a little bit of fishing to clear my head over the next day or two. I would dearly like to put some mackerel in my freezer and maybe try spinning for a bas or two so you have made the decision for me. Many thanks, you're a star!!!!

@@GKJ-FISHING Hey John, It is no problem. I don't get the chance to get out fishing as much as You, Mike or Hooker but when I do it's always an enjoyable adventure, and I came back with a clearer head! Take care mate and as I said, keep the videos coming, they are always a pleasure to watch and learn from!

Lovely spot that mate, beautiful beach just round the corner (Llanddona) in the summer has that blue bio luminescent plankton that lights up when you swim or paddle at night 👍nice to see all those mackerel.

Well John, I went to Penmon Point today to try for a few Mackerel or maybe even a Bass on the lures or spinners! I would love to say that the scenery was wonderful but I can't as the fog was in big time and from the car park (I had me car parked in exactly the same place as you) and the fog was that thick that I couldn't even see the red and white light house! I tried feathering from the shingle beech but to no avail, but at least I didn't loose any tackle. However it was that low a tide that I did a good chance to see the lay of the sea bed and where most of the snags were to be found, good info to have logged in for any future visits! I also had a good go feathering from the same rock that you were on but again that was another blank as was my try as lure fishing for any Bass that might have been around! I guess that the Mackerel shoaled up and they decided that they should vacate the area so that I did not end up using my energy reeling them in - (That's my little touch of humour) Not to worry, I had a good day out and enjoyed the fresh air as well as calling in to Beaumaris Bait and Tackle for a chat and gave you a quick plug (In the nicest way) as they were extremely welcoming and helpful - I would suggest that anyone passing should call in as they have a pretty impressive shop there, along with very helpful staff! Anyway, even though it was a 250 mile round trip for nothing it was quite enjoyable and I'm home safe and sound again sat here enjoying a nice bottle of Merlot - I guess blanking now and then is part fishing and something that we can all laugh at later on! If it is any consolation, there was about 6 of us all told fishing at Penmon Point today and there was only one that I spoke to that caught anything, and that was just two small "Joeys", but it is getting very late in the year for them! Keep the videos coming John and one day we may well meet up for a good old chin wag, till then Tight Lines Mate!

Always love the video john just amazing I understand its your first time doing live bait . I had my biggest bass on fishing live bait on float . I seen the float you were using was a little bit to small you need a nice big float otherwise as you have found out the Mackrel will pull it under the size hook I used was a 6/0 cycle hook and aswell the weight for the float i used for example if it says a 2 ounce weight to use go for a 1 ounce because you will have more float on the surface making it harder for the Mackrell to pull it under . Cant wait to see more . Tight lines mate ❤

I painted the lighthouse a couple of times in my youth. Had to carry everything over at low water and stopped on until we finished it. Had a rope around the bottom and fished from that some good fish was had

You should try a savage gear v2 kakhi colour 33g soft plastic when the mackerel are around on a spinning rod just for fun . Rattle in them immitates a wounded bait fish. Ive had a good amount bass on these when mackerel around. Tight lines John.

John you have two or three large rocks not far out from your left rod where you ended up. A bit late this year but best to visit there on a low water spring tide. There's one due in a few days but it'll be too dark to see where the snags are as low water on the springs is around 6:30 usually. I'm not sure if you pay at the toll hut each time but you were able to buy a season ticket. Check it out and being as your caravan's only a few miles away it'd not only save you money but allow you to really get to know the area Where you were catching the mackerel used to be good at low water for huss quite close in 25-50 yards out but because of all the rock pools and weed it can as you found out be the capital of Crabland. But....that's another reason the bass and huss are there. I no longer fish but it took me a while to get to know where to set up. As you've found out it's also a veritable photographer's dream .

If you do kill your bait while casting it put your hook through the top of the back centering it and hold your line to make sure that the macro looks like it's swimming in cast it back out the fish still bite

@happyguy5414Ай бұрын
Just a bit of advice, your hook size for a live bait needs to be around a 7.0 circle. Bass are not bothered about a big hook. The hook you’re using is useless.
@GKJ-FISHINGАй бұрын
Cheees for the info pal I’m new to this and appreciate it ❤️ Only put this hook on has I just witnessed the guy next door catch a bass on live bait mackerel on this exact hook size and pattern….. I’ll be sure to try a bigger circle hook when out next time / al the best - John
@michaelparry6890Ай бұрын
6.0 limitless circle hooks... dont strike... just wind the reel..
@happyguy5414Ай бұрын
@@GKJ-FISHING I understand. Here’s a good tip for you to keep your live bait alive as mackerel tend to die in rock pools after a short time. Buy yourself a cheap prawn pot as you can get in your local tackle shop for a few quid and put the mackerel in it and hang it over the side. They will stay alive for ages so long as you don’t overload it😉
