Hi! - 1. Love your videos, thanks for sharing! 2. I will be driving down from Tulum in August and was hoping to book this tour ahead of time. Am I able to book online, or can you give instructions on how to book? 3. Since I will be driving from Tulum, I am trying to organize time. What time do you recommend leaving to be able to enjoy the float and Maya ruins of muyil and get back to Tulum by 7PM? Appreciate your help!
@RickRackTravels2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jackie, we recommend that you contact our friend Eddie before your trip. He is a Maya guide and lives in the area and is very knowledgeable. He speaks excellent English and will give you a full tour. You can reach him on Whatsapp on this number 52 983 809 7203. You might have to drop the 52 from the number. We don't believe there is any online pre booking available but Eddie will keep you right on that and he can take you through the ruins as well. The river float is no more than one to one and a half hours in totality but you also have the option of a boat tour to Sian Ka'an which is a nature reserve with Dolphins, Manatees and Turtles etc. All the animals are in the wild so there is no absolute guarantee that you will see them but the day we went out we were able to see all three and it was a fun day. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Hi Hugo, I am sure there are snakes but thankfully I have not seen any!! It was mostly fresh water in the canal so the Crocs thankfully stay in the salt water. Or so I have been told!! Ricky

Thanks for the interesting video! 2 questions: 1. a hot day, do you recommend doing the canal or the ruins first? 2. We were in the Biosphere a couple of weeks ago and saw a large alligator in the lagoon. Any chance of running into one in a canal? yikes!
@RickRackTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Julia thanks so much. Yes 🙌 we totally recommend doing it in the reverse order that we did. Get hot at the ruins and cool off in the canal ! And yes we saw alligators 🐊 on our way to Punta Allen a few months ago BUT our guide assured us because the lagoon and canal is all fresh water there are no alligators! I did keep an eye out though lol 😂
@juniperwildflowers3 жыл бұрын
I’m from the East Texas/Louisiana border where alligators are plentiful in the woods, swamp, and lakes where we would play and swim as kids. 99% of the time alligators (as with most wild animals) are more scared of you than you are of them. If one does approach you in the water, bop it on the nose and it will leave you alone. As long as you see it coming first!

I had not heard of this before. It looks like great fun! Can you give an idea of how long it took you to get there from PM and how much time you spent there?
@RickRackTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bonnie, it takes about two hours to get from PM to Muyil, traffic dependent. Once there the boat journey is about 15 minutes to get to the start of the float. Once you start floating down the canal it’s approximately 45 minutes. At the end of the float it’s a ten minute walk back to the boat then another 15 minute boat ride back to the car park. In all you will probably spend two hours at the canal and then you can visit the ruins if you want they are right there. Hope this helps!

We’re you afraid of alligators or snakes under those mango groves while floating? It’s so beautiful there!!!!
@RickRackTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia, no we had no worries the Crocodiles are not in the canals they stay in the large lagoons where the water is salt/brackish. There could be snakes but it never gets too enclosed and there is a local guide who floats ahead of you watching for any danger. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing trip! R&R

Did this tour about 2007, what so many fail to realize is that there are numerous crocs about, generally during the day they sleep in the shade but they are there.
@RickRackTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick, yes there are Crocodiles in the Lagoon but in the brackish/salt water. Or at least that is what we were told by our Maya guide who lives in the area lol.

@@RickRackTravels having fished dozens of days in the Boca paila area I am more than familiar with the crocs, been closer to them than I was comfortable with a couple of times and am always aware they are so silent.
