Loved all the ruins! Very cool, crazy that you guys had so many places to yourselves! Having all that space to explore must have been so neat!

Love Xpujil we have a home there in town. Love all the ruins that are all around the area. We even have a pyramid 100 feet from our front yard.

I really enjoy your videos. You seem like very thoughtful travelers that respect the locals and their land & treasures. I had plans to ride the Tren Maya but cancelled at the last moment given that it is still working out its bugs. I may now just take the ADO bus and a couple legs of the train. Did you have any concerns driving the route you did, such as primitive roads, unscrupulous policemen, etc.?

Thank you. I have a feeling the tren Maya won't be fully operational for awhile. We did get a ticket in Xpujil for driving the wrong way down a one way that had no signs and had cars parked facing both directions. It was only $1200 pesos and we paid it at the station. No other issues with police. The roads between towns are excellent but the small roads to the archeological sites often are unpaved and/or have huge potholes. This wasn't a problem for our Jeep but might be if you have a low clearance car.

I am enjoying your series about Tren Maya and plan to bing watch it because it so well made. My dream is to make parts of the route I missed the times when I went to Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo. I think the entire purpose of the tren maya is to bring tourists to these off the beaten track areas. Most people stay in the hotels of the Mayan Riviera and don't dare to explore more. BTW the way I wonder why did you missed the Moral Reforma ruins close to Balancan. I think this has one of the biggest pyramids in the area and it's becoming more imporant because next to it they discovered another ancient city called Aguada Fenix. According to the Lidar radars they say they have the biggest pyramid of the whole Mayan civilization. I hope to visit those ruins when they open it. They will take years of excavation and restauration before they open it to public. Keep up the great job you are doing.

Thank you! We are definitely planning on visiting the area again in the future unfortunately there are many conflicts with the government and issues with the cartel in the area right now so we didn't get to visit Tonina, Moral Reforma, or Bonampak.

Did you rent a car to get around? Where did you get it/drop off?

We crossed the border back in April 2022 with our Jeep. We currently have a TIP and Florida plates. We love the freedom it gives us.
