Sammarizing what I think and Feel about the Float X I put on my bike A while back and why I feel its better than the Reaktiv proprietary shock that came stock.

If you used the Fox mounting hardware kits, did you use the little plastic crush washers that have the "nipples" on one side and use the metal spacers that came on the bike? Or just one or the other? I had trouble getting mine to fit on the top mounts, but the bottom fit both...

I made the hardware myself , lots of remade ones but on normal 7 and 5's u have seen the washer with the dimples used on both sides

@@JustFrana I guess I won't stress about it if people are making their own stuff for it. Sounds like as long as everything fits, it should be good to go. Thanks for the reply!

I have a Gen 5 9.9 with the Thru Shaft and just bought a Float X to replace it, would you say it makes the suspension more progressive? Have you messed with spacers since this review? I weigh about 185-190 kitted up and wondering what to expect

You're going to love it , progression isn't something i would say came across for me. But it definitely used its travel better , like i bottomed out but it wasnt as noticeable. Also i upgraded to the gen 6 a few weeks after this review so don't have super long term comments on it. Let me know how you find it ....it was definitely the best upgrade i made to the bike

@@JustFranathank you for the reply. Yea with the stock shock if I set it up to be smooth over smaller bumps it blows through travel a lot. I’m hoping this Float X will manage its travel better but not be a total blob climbing in open mode I also recall you said you had to get extra hardware to make it fit, I got the upper and lower kit from Fox but did you also have to change the upper and lower bolts?

I have the same 2022 gen 5 9.8 ex. Did you need new hardware and bushings?

Hi, tried the float x2 and it didn’t fit the bike, lol, I’m back to stock, I have all the mounting hardware, did you have issues with the reservoir tank hitting the frame??
@JustFrana5 ай бұрын
I tried but upon extension the aircan would hit the seattube , had no issues with the Floxt X but X2 was a nogo

I love trek but the proprietary stuff is annoying how some things are very specific to the bike. I’m now sitting on a float x2 with no immediate use for it. I’m new to your channel, I run Hope brakes on my bike, I like your blunt, short, to the point videos. Thanks for the content. Great stuff overall. If you have any more tips and tricks to make the Gen 5 better and smoother, I’m open to hearing you hacks, I would love the Gen 6 but currently out of my budget as I also want the Rail e-bike. Thanks, Bruno

Thank you , been hard to be more consistent with my new job but always trying. The biggest things for me was regular servicing of the pivots , quietening everything down cause the bike hads lots of noises , the shock and 2.6 tyres. I habe carbon wheels and if you have the opportunity i think it will ad much to the bike in terms of feel. @@equs007
