Thank you for this challenge. I think this is the most informative and enjoyable ‘course’ about handstands on KZbin. What I found happening was my confidence increased as my strength increased. Your gradual introduction of the parts of the handstand and why they were important to understand them did this. I also started keeping a journal as you suggested in Lesson 7 which definitely helped, as it is so easy to forget how far you have come. Thanks again and I will continue studying ‘with’ you in the Vimeo series.

Do you have to point your toes to balance?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
@@ying802 hello, you don't have to. It depends what you want. A clean shape: yes point your toes. A relaxed shape : then you don't need to point. If you are just starting to practice handstands I suggest that you focus on pointing your toes. Best wishes

@@NatalieReckert Thanks Natalie. So everything else the same - push ground away (game changer for me), engage core, squeeze butt?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
@@Cryf454 Yes I would say so. Also: Don't fall towards the step, lift the hand and place it. Focusing on pushing the ground away wil help you to get control. If you fall into the step, you have lost the control.

Your technic and video really helping me to lift as well as lightness during my balancing with my HS. I love n highly recommending everyone to follow 'couch to HS series'. 👍 Ive followed 30's days but slightly more than 1 month for me to complete due to Ive taken slightly more rest day😅 And now I can stay away from Wall with 10secs max of holding though not always but hopfully sooner later it could be more consistently

Hello and thank you for your lovely feedback as well as sharing your experience. Great that you took your time during couch to handstands, slow progress is the most lasting. 10 seconds is a huge amount! Well done and best wishes

HI natalie, i have a question, whenever I try to balance on straddle handstand, most of the time i fall to the front, i also feel like I tend to lean forward too much whenever I try this form (on the normal handstand I can balance it with my core tight and lift up my shoulder ~10 20s)
@NatalieReckert4 жыл бұрын
Hello and please have a look at my Vimeo library where you find more detailed videos about the straddle handstand shape as well as shapeshifting: vimeo.com/ondemand/handstandlibrary key in the straddle handstand is to allow for a slight opening of the chest, as opposed to keeping the ribs completely flat in a straight line handstand, while at the same time keeping the stomach pulled in towards the spine, preventing the back from arching.

I’m really struggling to find my centre line of balance. It’s really frustrating. I’ve been practising for nearly a year now and feel my should strength has doubled but still yet to hold the balance for more than 2-3 seconds. I usually tap one toe to the wall erghhhhh!

Shoulder strength!!
@NatalieReckert4 жыл бұрын
Dear Lorraine, take that frustration give it a cuddle :) Frustration is part of the handstand journey, try to make frinds with it. My prime tip is: Take ten minutes every day, try to cram as many balancing attempts into it as possible. Just keep doing it again and again, for those ten minutes, strictly and without thinking about anything else than trying to stay up there. Keep doing this for three months and it will pay off. There is a great video in my Vimeo library as well about how to balance and this method: vimeo.com/ondemand/handstandlibrary

@@NatalieReckert thanks for the tip and yes I do practice daily! I’m determined to get up before my 64th!!!!!!!!!!! I do have severe back pain and arthritis in my hands and most of my joints but.... onwards and up(side down)wards!!! I’ll send a video when I succeed!! (Although I did do one yesterday with a few mini shoulder dips... a big ego boost for me!!). Thank you for your time and great videos. I REALLY appreciate all. 😱😘
