I’ve watched the entire reno and fwiw here are my take a ways: 1) not sure the videos portrayed how much hard work this required. Forget a hammer: boat ride, need 6 foot more trim: 3 hour drive. Plus the actual hours spent on actual build. 2) it seems you were so thoughtful about every screw, wire, and square inch of space, and system to take advantage of what you could to maximize build 3) I’m sure you could have done things more cheaply(insulation, flooring, appliances, etc), but to your credit you provided a total quality build for the new buyer. Nice to see you did it “right”, rather than “cheaper”. Now go drink some rum and take a vacation! Fantastic job!

I was surprised to realize this was a 10 month project, where did this last year go, it has zoomed by. But, being reminded of what all you did, it’d take 10 months, part-time. It was fun to see the rock background behind the house and, at the end, you could see how much the lake had risen in the last months, no more rocks, just green woodlands! Each house just gets better and better, well done, you two. I’m so thrilled you have a buyer, those funds will be a good start to your long-term dream and a sail boat. The story of LC made me teary. I had befriended an old man (very old) and his dog who lived across from us...Insert long story here about accidentally stealing his flowers... They had a winter place in Florida and one year he died while down there. We found out then, that he had left me his house and the "vacant lot". Went it and took the truly sentimental things and cleaned it up, brought it up to current whatever and put it up for auction. I was 13. My dad had thought he might buy it but some guy bid a crazy amount over what it was worth. I sent the money to his Mrs to support her paying his medical bills and to keep her going too. There was a lot of arguing about it but in the end, she kept it and I am glad because it turned out she would need it later.

WOW! Being a floating home owner myself I have first hand appreciation for the blood sweat and tears it takes to bring these cabins from what most would consider a tear down to at minimum floating and livable! But you two go above and beyond. I so enjoy each episode. Just found yalls channel & binged your videos. First off, awesome job! Secondly, pertaining to yalls previous boats. I would love to hear Brandons method to madness of getting new boats and selling them at the end of the season. I just dont understand how its done without losing 10-20-30k or more every year. Or if yall have some pull with boat manufacturers, being that Brandon is the Harbor Master...

Aw thank you so much! Great questions, thankfully we are always able to at least break even (including cost of gas), if not MAKE money off the boats we sell! It does have to do with the fact that we get boats a bit under MSRP because Brandon buys 12+ new boats every year for the marina rental fleet, so when buying in bulk manufacturers are happy to sweeten the deal a bit 😌 it also helps that those manufacturers know we will be showing (re: advertising) the boat on our channel. Lastly, it helps that we are super meticulous about keeping boats in good shape, so that they always look as good or better than they did when we bought them by the time we sell. Timing certainly plays into it too, in terms of how the economy is doing and the used boat market in particular (that’s the main reason we got a super cheap & older boat this year, being an election year it wouldn’t be smart to try to sell an expensive boat come fall & we don’t want to make those payments all winter. whereas we can easily afford to keep our ol mastercraft if we want/need to). And if we held onto a new boat long enough for the next years’ model to come out, the selling price would drop significantly. So it’s a lot more of a headache to go thru all the hassle & paperwork of buying and selling every summer, but that’s what makes it feasible for us to enjoy these boats that would be way outside our price range to keep 😆 totally worth it!

Assistance requested... if you have time. I called the marina today around 2 PM with some questions, and they didn't want to talk to me, maybe were busy... They said all information was on the Internet, and were mostly correct. We plan to visit our son and family in Knoxville for 10 days at the end of Sept. We plan to reserve rooms in the Village for two or three nights, then on Wed. the second reserve a pontoon boat for a day. (Trying to take care of details now.) We only want to cruise and fly my Mavic 3 and Mini 4 Pro from the boat. I know most dams are restricted air space, but I assume that most of the lake is OK since you fly yours... So, can I fly? Any estimate of water level early in Oct.? Anything else we should know? We had planned to rent your brief Air B&B before it was sold, but still want to spend a day on a pontoon like we once owned and skied behind. Thanks in advance...

You can fly your drones over the lake, yes. Just not the dam, and not the land surrounding the lake without a permit from the national park or national forest. Water levels start going down in early september so they will not be all the way down in october but will be well on their way. Maybe halfway down!

Mr LC Jones pasted the baton to you guys to fix up his old floating cabin so, that his cabin dreams didnt die too. 💙 That's how old homes with tons of history survive = because someone like you guys grab the baton from the fromer owners & fix up an old home and run with it until one day you pass the baton to the next person to keep a good watchful eye on a home & make sure that the home does not die too. RIP Mr LC Jones ❤ (Passing the baton is a track & field saying when you are running a relay & pass the baton to the next member for the relay team to run the next leg in that track race) You guys and your team did a phenomenal job renovating this water cabin.
