Floating Trap C.A.M.P. almost gets me! ⚙️ Fallout 76

This guy's map icon said he had 945 plans for sale, so I fast travelled in to take a look...
Despite being a new player this was not the first time someone tried to kill me with a floating camp. The first two times when I was in my first week, I was fooled. Not again.

I always build my camps floating off cliffs for safety. I never realized people did this on purpose to have it disappear as they log off or switch camps. Need to bring my vendor down I guess.

No big deal for me because I have power armor and love jumping off cliffs. My camp is over a cliff but my vendor is safe. My tools and workbench is over a cliff and I wait until nobody is in my camp. Unfortunately I glitch out and hopefully nobody gets hurt but the important stuff is safe to use.

Encountered this kind of trap, the camp owner is waiting below where you fall and die and he will steal your junk. Good thing I have auto revive and -50 fall damage. I died when i fall then he come running to me to get the junk but my auto revive triggered 🤣

hahaa yeah the auto revive really clutches up in pvp, and i have a skybase so i fall off of it trying to load in all the time. the way i evaded these traps was by immediately going to the scrapbox

if someone leaves whilst you're in a camp it should load you and spawn you somewhere else, easy fix

And this is one of the reasons I make sure at least two of my armor pieces have fall damage reduction. The other reason is that it's fun as hell to just jump off of stuff.

I was tricked into a check your goals cpu and you fell into a bunch of spikes and no where to jump out of the way because it was closed off by a glass box! That guy was a 🍆!

I never get these, but I also exclusively travel in Excavator or Ultracite Power Armor. I get the ones that kill you with their CAMP, which I have no idea how that works but it happens. You interact with the vendor, the CAMP disappears, then reappears on top of you and you die. Or the ones that somehow one shot you as you’re interacting with the Vendor. I just put the Wrecking Ball perk on and then Fatboy their CAMP from a safe distance. Petty? Sure is, but eh fuck ‘em

Just a theory, but if possible try standing on your power armor when using the vendor. When the camp disappears, the Power Armor will remain floating. Might be able to jump to safety or fast travel away. Or wear PA from the start, but standing on PA might also protect you from spring and spike traps.

My first encounter with a trap base. Went to one that was on top of some rails near foundation. I didn’t have my power armor equipped. when I got there they removed the base. lol

I'm learning. If someone tries to get you to sit in a chair to glitch through the wall to get into the camp beware. Or, like this video I always get into my power armor for floating camps.

I put mine over a cliff for extra security, my vendor is on solid ground. I have removed my camp when a player attempted to lockpick my resources, apart from that it is to keep enemies out.

@RobertRife-h6w You’ve clearly missed the memo that 99% of players operate On the share principle / take what you need. There is hardly anything that’s actually worth locking up. What will you lose ? 10 acid ? 5 company teas 4 coffees ? Some dog food or oil? On another note I cannot understand why folk who submit a best build lock up their stuff, who’s gonna vote for someone who can’t even spare the visitor a coffee or some popcorn 😂

If the Vending Machine is not out frontm its not worth buying. Why would anyone hide their vending machines if they want to earn caps? If you suspect that its a trap, right when you come out of the vending menu hit esc and fast travel.

You've never played this game in your life. The only "eagle' mutation is eagle eye and that has nothing at all to do with fall damage. And bird bones doesn't really help from certain heights or when bloodied.

I always swap to my two fall damage boots when I see a camp like that. Most of the time they are not trying to hurt you. Blue screen or server hopping happens.

Why do people do this? If you log out or activate another camp its not like you can see whether they did in fact die....and if they are wearing PO its not like they will die anyway. Seems like a waste of effort for nothing.
