I love this style, it gives the model a more eldritch horror feeling that elevates the nids over "hive mind space bug" it makes them feel much more alien

I like this sort of style honestly. Your thought process on the model as you build it really helps tie it together. Lot of times people just say "this is cool and so I did it this way", but I like it when someone building a model gives more of a logical explanation.

I think the bodypiece does give it a certain level of bulk and weight, but those tentacles do sell the idea it's drifting eerily along. It cuts a very unique figure. Would love to see what it looks like painted up! Gengar is A+ naming. :D

This is a brilliant conversion. It looks like a nightmare jellyfish. Just looking at it I can’t help but imagine a horror movie scene of some people trying to hide from it as it silently ghosts toward them knowing where they are the whole time. Very cool and creative.

I really agree with you about the skewed evolutionary tree. GW had a good idea trying to make multi use kits but they abandoned some core design concepts to achieve it...

epic conversion. way better than the standard malaceptor
@Sandmann1193 Жыл бұрын
Oh man. This got recommended to me today after I built the model yesterday and attached the toxicrene tentacles to my trygonbase :d In other words: it gets the Maleceptor (which I as big bug lover think is cool already) to a whole new level of sinister coolness
@requinorex3250 Жыл бұрын
Well the toxicrine/maleceptor are carnifex evolution like the exocrine/haruspex. There are specific carnifex for specific needs (harvesting, artillerie, psychic, and toxic) so yeah, they look like carnifex. But I really like your view on the subject and your conversion, one of the best I've seen.

I like that it seems to be floating, but that the tentacles drag it forward at high speed to fight at close range if necessary. It seems like it could easily slither across the battlefield and through gaps in buildings, like it is a more capable organism than the slower, artillery-like zoanthrope.

Looks great! The parts list would be the following right? malecaptor kit Tyrannocyte (built as a sporocyst) Zoanthropes (buildlt as zoanthropes) Anything I'm missing from this list? Also i think that the sporocyst can no longer make spore mines, does that mean that this conversation would maken the sporocyst not able to work fully in 10th?
@WhatThe40k8 ай бұрын
IIRC the sporocyst can still make spores but I'm tournament matched play you can only make spore mines once across your army and biovores do it better.

@hobobeard2 жыл бұрын
Looking at it head-on it looks a bit vulnerable. Surely if it were intended to float toward enemies to engage them it'd have front facing carapace to protect the exposed brain.
@WhatThe40k2 жыл бұрын
I feel ya, the zoanthrope is better in that regard. I suppose GW designed it this way due because of the psychic barriers these kinds of bioforms possess. Though to me that still feels like a cop out 😂
@veekleek75352 жыл бұрын
Nice conversion, I agree that the GW model doesn't feel like a natural evolution of a zoanthrope at all.

@WhatThe40k Жыл бұрын
I'd say so, it uses the same base size and many of the same parts. Likely it may be easier to draw LoS to it since IIRC this conversion sits taller. So really, the advantage it provides if any will be to your opponent.

Do you do commission work? I butchered my malceptor kit trying to do this. I’ll pay you whatever you want to build a malceptor like this and you don’t even have to paint it.

This types of transformed figures can't be played in a competitive game, no?
@WhatThe40k2 жыл бұрын
I believe that would be determined event by event, since the set their rules/standards. This conversion here uses the same base the model comes onto and isn't too different from the original model. Though TBH taking the hobby out of warhammer for the sake of competitive play, is for me, killing the spirit of our hobby.
