Love this scheme for tyrannids, I think going more black than blue on the carapace looks much more modern and intimidating

I like this take on behemoth a lot, the bolder blue and red never really spoke to me but this darker version looks super cool. I’d love to see your take on kraken to round out the big 3 hive fleets if you ever got the chance, but that’s just me being greedy for tyranid vids. Nice job!

Henry, your airbrushing has always been solid. Your hairy brush work seems to be getting better and better. Know you prefer army/speed painting but I'd love to see you go all out on a display mini

Thanks. It's not so much a preference, more a necessity for the KZbin channel!

I know this is a fairly old video, but damn, Henry... You really knocked this one out of the park! I really like this scheme. I think the only thing i would've changed, was using black and dark sea blue for the highlights, on the carapace. But that's just personal preference. Great job!

Thanks Kevin, I'd say painting the red on the lictor was one of the most enjoyable things I filmed last year.

Behemoth! Probably my favorite of all the Tyranid schemes. The red bodies make them stand out nicely and while they look awesome painted in a moody, grim dark scheme, I personally love taking the vibrancy to the max. Like something out of 2nd edition. It's awesome how good that model looks with a very limited palette of colours and without any washes. The oil wash does a nice thing making the carapace look a little more. As for the gloss varnish idea: I think it can work, but not on the whole model. If you limit it to just the carapace then it'll look like a lot of real life bugs. Carapaces are usually a bit shiny.

I really like the black here! I always though the super bright blue on the chitin didn't look right. I still do blue for mine, but I use agrax earthshade on kantor blue to really mute it out and use darker colors in a gradual gradient for similar reasons. I love the purple you used too, it works really well here.

Coming back to this vid for about the 3rd time, since you put it out - I think this will be a good approach for my 'tasteful' oldhammer nids. My prospective plan is to stick to darker red shades, up to slightly lighter reds, for a bit of range, rather than purples. That said, the gal vorbak made a lot of sense, after you sprayed up with the blue shadows.

I'd been planning on doing mine as leviathan to match my space hulk genestealers, but I may have to go with this instead. The red will be different as I don't want to faff with GW paints unless I love them (barak nar burgundy is one I make the effort for though), but I'll think I'll be going for it with the overall concept. The rate at which I paint means I probably won't have an army painted like that to show off before 11th edition hits though...

Awesome interpretation in Behemoth. If you do end up caving in, wouldn't mind seeing more! Any chance Andy or yourself will tackle the upcoming Fulgrim Transfigured on Patreon?

I actually really liked the look of both the gloss and satin covered gloss for the carapace, though the skin did look a bit off, though the contrast between matt skin and gloss or satin carapace could be nice, though probably a pain to do for army painting.
@cultofpaint Жыл бұрын
I think brush painting the gloss on the carapace would be ok if you really liked the look. I'd use a thinner one like amm0 mig

I know you mentioned in the video that you could do the initial steps with rattle cans, would you just do chaos black and then mephiston red zenithal?
@cultofpaint Жыл бұрын
I'd probably heavy drybrush gal gorbak over the black, then rattle mephiston. Or just drybrush all the reds on order.

@@cultofpaint ah so kind of like slap chop but with the varying reds from a black prime? The scheme looks simple but also it grabs so much attention. Great work mate.
