UPDATE! I heard from the publisher after I'd filmed this and they do intend to include simplified rules that you can start out with, and different elements of the game will get enabled over time. So you don't quite have to jump into the deep end of the pool like I thought you did! :-)

Great overview that summarises most of my thoughts on it. I trust the development team on this one to produce a final polished product.

This reminds me of Tidal Blades, in that the art & theme is 10/10 but it’s more game than necessary

This game seems to kick off some of the same vibes as Lost Ruins of Arnak, a game you also generally like (I'd have to go look up what your rating du jour is on it...). If you had both on the shelf, which would you reach for?
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 ай бұрын
hmm, i know jen would 100% pick this. i might go with arnak only because it's a "smaller" game. HOWEVER, apparently the developers are breaking the game up so that differnet modes are available so you can play with some stuff on and some stuff off. depending on how that goes, it could push FLOE over arnak for me :)

How big is the table you just managed to fit Floe on?
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 ай бұрын
the RV dinette we have is 42" x 72". the little side table is an additiona 18" x 25" so both of those together allowed us to play FLOE comfortably as a 2p game :)

Do you know your table measurements? I play solo on a made up board game table at my recliner. Thanks if you know :)

Thanks! Yeah, that is indeed bigger than most RV tables. The way you piled the cards in your run-through reminds me of my own way to save space. I also put my cards in GeekBox or Stonemaier containers as it gives the decks a smaller footprint on the board, and they are easier to grab. I sometimes put the discard at the back of the deck to save space. My biggest portable table is 42''x31'' - I can fit Endless Winter except the Offerings board I put on the side lol @@rahdo

why is everyone jumping to that mic? what's the appeal?
@rahdo
@rahdo 10 ай бұрын
it's a good question. i can say that i'm using it only because i'm on the road and needed something flexible to deal with unusual filming conditions, and i saw that an RV channel i subscribe to had started using them and they seemed to get consistently good results. when i eventually get back home, i reckon i won't be using them but go back to my fixed mic in studio. but i was surprised to see that dice tower started using them right after i did. not sure why they felt the need to. they're good mics, but not as good as a fixed studio setup

@@FemmeSensei yup, i critique stuff _all the time_ (often things that other channels completely ignore but that i think are important) but folks are constantly saying that i never do. it's a real conundrum to be sure! i think it's a case of the internet demanding rage/click bait content... if you're merely constructively criticizing, then you're a shill. it's only if you're shouting "this is the biggest POS i've ever seen" that you earn "cred" for being "authentic". go figure.

@@rahdo Possibly you're onto something...over-reaction is the only reaction. It's also hard, nigh impossible, to defeat a perception that simply isn't true, and I don't know that anyone should apologize for being a positive person even in criticism.
