A FUTOite I Stan 🔥. At the moment, I'd say accomodations here FUTO is way more than the students now😂. Eziobodo especially is so choked!. As for Ihiagwa, the bad roads has made that vicinity so out of place. Umuchima, is a nice place too. Obinze, is for the investors😂, but Las Las, the distance apart, it's a matured environment . Meanwhile, I've friends and family in the den(UNN) too, I visit NSK a whole lot, if we are to compare, their school hostels is quite better than the off-campus. The Wi-Fi and steady light,is what I always look forward to anytime I visit😂. The life of a student sha. Thank you for this beautiful content,Ma'am. I hope to have such investment someday.

Sister Flo, thanks a lot for your priceless input. Yes, student accommodation is a good investment. Especially if you have a responsible caretaker ensuring that the property is well maintained. An added bonus is to give juicy offers to students such as offering one month rent free for anyone who pays one year upfront. That means students will have to pay for only eleven months instead of twelve. A flat rate for water and electricity is usually one of the best ways to deal with students so you don't run after them every single month.

Yes, a responsible caretaker is key. They pay rent monthly in yours?

Chai this brought back a lot of memories, I went to FUTO in the 2000s and the story hadn't changed that much, though finding private accommodation was a lot easier as many more investors have started building around the towns close to school, but those local village houses are terrible, lived in one of the best for a year before I moved to a complete student one. Those landlords and landladies can feel so annoyingly entitled, if only they know that under normal circumstances many students won't even give such accommodation a second thought

Nice to know that you’re a Lion, I am a Lion too and I remembered the incident you talked about because I attended UNN in the 90’s too. Thanks for the nice job you’re doing here, it’s of great benefit a lot of us.

Hmm. Flo. That place is flooded with privately owned hostels. I finished from futo in 2009. And there are a lot. I mean a lot of hostels. Massive ones at that. The four major villages around futo ihiagwa, eziobodo, umuchima and obinze are all flooded with privately owned hostels. Most students don't want to stay in the school hostels anymore. This has also made the sons and daughters of these villages to wake. They are also investing. Some who can't build, offer up part of their house for rent. I lived with a landlord and it was good experience. He and his family took me like their child and sibling. As at the time I was a student, there were a lot of privately owned hostels in that area, even in the federal polythecnic nekede which is very close to futo. This would probably bring the cost of accommodation down in the future
@preciousuzoma90355 ай бұрын
You are right about the number of hostels in the school. I entered FUTO in 2004 and left 2009 there were still about 5 hotels, 2 female, 2 male and one post graduates. But there’s currently a boom and all around the school has been built out for rentals.

Hi Flo, Thank you or your insight and depth in the building videos you produce regularly. Your information is most encouraging and motivating for those of us who are sceptical, and scared of what the total cost would amount to. However, having searched diligently for it, I am yet to find any video where you have discussed the use of burnt bricks in building. To this regard therefore, please permit me to humbly ask the following questions (with the hope that you will take out time to get them properly researched out): 1). Are burnt bricks produced in Lagos-Nigeria? Where exactly and by whom? 2). How much does a burnt brick cost? 3). About how many burnt bricks will be required to build a standard 3 bedroom duplex? 4). What would be your recommended total sum for completing a 3 bedroom standard duplex using burnt bricks? Thank you for your valuable time. Waaz.

Great lions and lionesses 🦁 💪 Interesting conversation. Well done. What about return on investment? Looks like hostel rents are a bit low and therefore yield about 5-6% return compared to malls or hotels which may yield much higher. Interesting though.

@Chynma3 жыл бұрын
Most of those hostels were just built any how without good plans just because they believe that it's just for students, that they can live in them no matter what, I think that student want to live in a place where they will be comfortable not having to share the rest room with many other student.
