He is not sandbagging once promoted they have to stay at blue belt for 2 years In order to be graded a purple belt at 16 years of age it is required that the athlete has spent at least 2 years as a green belt. And he is a purple belt so they are doing everything correctly read up on the rules

ADCC World Championship matches are 10 minutes and 20 minutes in the finals. ADCC Trial matches are 6 minutes and 8 minutes in the finals, as they need to go through so many more people.
