Ben thought not washing his feet would be his protection from leglocks

Popovitch was on a roll back then. Ben act like he didn't know legs were in play.

Leg locks are probably the biggest weakness to wrestlers to join jui jitsu later on

@@ryannardozzi6568 Exactly.... Leg locks in the early 2000's were the same to wrestlers as armbars and triangles were in the very early UFCs. They would tap and emerge with this look like "WTF was that!!!" (See Dan Severn, Kenny Monday, Royce Alger) How the sport has progressed!!!

If Askren had stuck to pure grappling he could've been something special. Would've been interesting to see.

He essentially did lmao. Even in a sport where he could strike he still did

Your comment confuses me... he dominated college wrestling (one of a handful of wrestlers to ever win the Hodge twice) and made the Olympic team (no small task in the USA), then fell short at the Olympics. He was asked if he just needed more freestyle experience and responded no, that he just wasn't good enough at freestyle... I think he summed it up by saying, "I sucked." I think he already was something special and his "funk" style was very interesting to watch, though he seemed to agree with you and not me. But I don't think he was going to improve on what he already did...

@@dubstepXpower but he wouldn't have taken the damage he has to get there like he has in mma. He could have competed more times a year than in mma. Comparatively would have equaled out maybe?
