Tons of training. Always use the same command words and never let them get away with anything.... when you tell them something... make sure they do it every time... but I agree... treat them like a a family member, spoil the heck out of them. They are the best gift to mankind

Both Bob Hansler and Primitive Technology are ones at the top here on KZbin when it comes to knowledge of the outdoors. I try to learn as much as I can. Hope to be that good someday. im a transplanted yankee. born in northeastern New Jersey on the outskirts of New York City. been living in the south since I was about 12 and most northern folks just wouldn't make it out here. them cookie cutter city homes would drive me nuts. now that I'm grown with 2 boys of my own there's nothing better then owning a couple acres of land, hunting, trapping, and building a berm and shooting a couple guns. You saying you could eat the nectar in that vine at 6:40 had me raising eyebrows for a second haha! That vine is very reminiscent of a plant called poison sumac that's here in southwest Tennessee, a basically much more potent cousin to poison ivy/oak. But then I realized that poison sumac is not a vine and is very different from what you're pointing out on that tree

Could you do a video on the willow tree stuff? Very interesting we had a big willow in our back yard. I climbed it, made a tree fort, swing etc, and always thought the bark, limbs and leaves were interesting.

I just kept digging around in your wonderful channel. Hang in there brother, you are a special man. I wish I had found your videos before today. I live here in the desert, been around snakes all my life. Ate a few too. They are good baked with garlic and red chile. And bluegills are the best eating fish on the planet...lol.. The country here where I live has more mesquites than creeks with water. Even the prickly pears and cholla died off it's so dry. Lots of wind and dust. Harsh times. I look forward to more videos. Love your videos but do have to say that this one made me a little sad. Only because of it reminds me of my good friend and companion, a blue heeler, that was with me for thirteen years ! Like you said, she chose me and still miss her every day. People didn't understand when I talked to her like a person and she responded like a person but I think you do ! 👍

I lost my heeler 16 months ago, he was called chopper and he was the best pal i ever had. I talked to him like a person because he understood me and i understood me, i feel lucky to have had 10 perfect tears with him and i hope he is waiting for me in the afterlife.

I lived in northwest Arkansas farm country for a while and had a neighbor that had 2 heelers on his farm to herd his cattle. He would command the dogs to cut out a certain cow from the herd. He described the animal to the dogs and they understood and obeyed. They understood human speech perfectly. I was amazed!

Thanks for the video, took me back to growing up in Brazos County and canoeing the Brazos and Navasota Rivers and Yeagua Creek below Lake Somerville when they openned the dam gates. We spent several summers in those River and creek bottoms bow fishing for Alligator Gar and Carp, setting trot lines, fishing, trapping and hunting. Seems like forever ago.

Grew up on 300 acres in the Texas hillcountry in brookesmith TX. Live in Spring Texas now, a subburd of Houston. Now i have 3, almost 4 kids of my own and do my best to put in them the same love of catching every creature we can get our hands on, for observation or for eating, so long as we're catching some creatures!

Very good to know you are no stranger to all that goes on around there, wish I coulda been with ya on that boat trip of course I have never really enjoyed any boat trips at all and I been on many but that one you were on had plenty of action and as long as we could stay safe and prepared that would have been the best boat ride hands down, awesome job Bob and glad the 3 of you stayed safe.

Just stumbled across your channel. I can't stop watching the videos. I love what you do. I wish I had the means and funds to donate to you, but a recent back surgery gone wrong has put me out of work for a bit. Keep up the good work brother. looking forward to more videos. that's what I was thinking... lol burn em up every time you see them. One less colony is still one less than before I guess. Id hate to have one accidentally float into my boat and be stuck out there with them all biting me! lol
