Flooding of the Chattahoochee River near Jakin, GA

Decided to do a flight over the ever-rising river. Didn't really realize what I was going to see until I started seeing people's homes under water, and people helping each other access their homes via boat. Pretty sad situation. Makes you that much more thankful for the Christmas we just had.

Jeremy - thanks for posting this video! Toward the end, you video'd a boat pulling another. Two of my neighbors and I were pulling another neighbor out and my husband was behind us on the red jet ski. We had to go in to get a neighbor's prescription meds and some clothes for them. They were able to save a couple of things but this is almost a complete loss for them. We are all so sad about this and it will take a long time to recover. this is exactly why people should not build in flood zone and along river courses. I hate for them, but at the same time Its their own fault for subjecting themselves to the force of nature and destroying the river corridors ecosystem. Back in the day of William Bartram mid to late 1700's the Chattahoochee ran clear at high water. We will never see that with all the farming that does not utilize non till practices and continue colonization of the river corridor.
