My husband and I lived in Pigeon Forge for 5 years. I miss it terribly. I miss hearing the Dollywood train. I worked at that Walmart and loved it. To see what the the fire did and now floods, hurts a lot. I have such special memories of the people there. I felt safe there.

I traveled US 321 from Newport to almost Townsend on 02/06/20 and couldn't believe the flooding. A tree fell into a transformer and closed my road, so I turned around and thought I was stuck because of mudslides where I was previously. LUCKILY, I found the Foothills Parkway entrance much to my good luck and it brought me out between Townsend and Maryville where I wanted to go anyway. God Bless the Parkway.

Thanks for sharing your little travelogue, Yankee. My wife and I live in Sevierville and frequently walk our dogs on that submerged sidewalk next to the Event Center and the Island. That was some storm! I had to go to see my doctor that morning and the flooding made it impossible for me to get home for several hours. We've never seen anything like this and you got to "enjoy" a historical storm. We're retirees from Michigan and have stayed in Gatlinburg in one of those riverside motels you filmed.

I'm speechless. I currently live in Oxford, Ohio - but I have Cherokee blood in me through my great-grandfather, so places like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are my home in spirit. It saddens me deeply to see this. It tore me apart to see the fire several years back. I want to come home. I hope all down there will please stay safe.

Me, my wife, and another couple with their babies (3 and 5) we're actually on our way to Sevierville on 2/6/19 and ran into all this rain and got a call from the resort and they advised us about the flooding. I'm so glad we decided not to press on through the rains and tornadoes. WE WILL BE RETURNING IN THE NEAR FUTURE!

Floods always amaze me. Here in California I've been in Sacramento, the capitol, when it floods. High water cresting reminds me of the power of mother nature. In a spot by the river in Sacramento they have huge metal gates to close where the river rises at a low spot. It's sad in a way because there is a small trailer park there. Army National Guard is activated when it's huge. My ex-husband worked several floods in the ARNG.
