Gadirova first dance element is insanely good. When she gets through this growth spurt she’s going to be quite the challenge on this event.

A little surprised that Shi didn't submit her 1 1/2 twisting double tuck here. It's an FIG event, so it would've made the skill named after her.

Is that part of the rules for World Cup events? What do you think is inspiring this new trend?
@cocoroni10312 жыл бұрын
@@captainbryce1 It isn't the rule, but the additional artistry requirements under the COP makes it difficult for many gymnasts to do 4 passes while keeping energy for expressive dance. Also, any bad landings can tank the E score immediately. Less passes, less chance for heavy deductions.
@PinoyMN2 жыл бұрын
the past dozen years have spoiled us with numerous athletes capable of routines packed with three or four challenging passes. we must remind ourselves of the new scoring code's preference for "cleaner," simpler routines. perhaps simone biles pushed the judges beyond their comfort zones. maybe it will be a long time until we witness performances again like hers, or the likes of mai murakami, aly raisman, daiane dos santos, alicia sacramone, ksenia afanasyeva, or shawn johnson.
@cocoroni10312 жыл бұрын
Not just cleaner, but more artistic, more emphasis on rhythm and less pause. Still challenging passes are rewarded well even in this code.

Where all of these gymnasts are leaving points on the table are in separated legs and flexed feet. Shilese Jones is less egregious at it than the others, but this but if they want more points, that's how to get them.
@joyfuljaj2 жыл бұрын
i noticed it more on Shilese.
@cocoroni10312 жыл бұрын
It isn't a big problem because you can't really deduct much on tumbling unless you have a catastrophic landing (the cap is 0.8 deduction, different categories for small step / large step / catastrophic landing). More fixable deductions occur on dance elements. Shilese got the wolf turn and a jump downgraded.
@susantescione80072 жыл бұрын
@@joyfuljaj You see a lot of under 14 scores for American gymnasts in recent events. You get 6-7 "leg separation" scores and 6-7 "flexed feet" at .2 per instance and you get 1 to 1.5 points deducted from the total score. That it is minor is true, depending upon how bad it is. Do it enough during a routine and you lose a point to a point and a half. That's more than enough to score off the podium. It isn't one or two instances. It's consistent throughout the routine and that's what adds up.
@cocoroni10312 жыл бұрын
@@susantescione8007 Flexed feet deduction for acro elements isn't commonly applied like before if you know the trend this quad. American gymnasts don't have enough dance difficulty this quad, or don't have enough artistry to achieve 14 consistently.

The Gadirova sisters are the biggest thing to come onto the Gymnastics stage since Biles. All of these gymnasts are phenomenal…..stunning. Should be interesting to see how they progress….if that’s possible….seriously….gymnastics couldn’t get anymore difficult!😮

@@comeawaywithme I'm 57 and remember the golden age of Olga Korbut, Nadia and Nelli Kim. There's NOTHING wrong with being old! What is wrong is the lack of respect Generations Y, Z and Alpha have toward their elders! Yes, times have changed over the last 120 years of gymnastics. However, different standards from other eras doen't mean everything was better or worse. It's gymnastics' HISTORY and DEVELOPMENT which has made it a unique sport. Respect that because if it weren't for the past we wouldn't have the future! This especially goes for training methods which were developed between 1964 amd 1996 that strongly influenced the acceptance and popularity of gymnastics!
