Tim was the front singer of a band called Di-Rect. I heard they've been very populair in Indonesia. Had a no 1 hit called Just the Way I Do. He was 19 years old back then. After that he went solo and now he joined a new band. Di-Rect was huge back in the days. I loved them.

I think both Floor and Tim were in the first class of the Rock Academy in Tilburg (school was brand new). They also met each other regularly thereafter during big concerts where both their bands played (the music scene here is not that big). So I think they know each other fairly well.

Next, please do Henk Poort and Emma Heesters duet of "Vivo Per Lei". To me, it was the best duet of the night! Both shined equally and managed to sound great together in spite of having totally different voices!

Tim Akkerman is a rock singer, not a country singer. He could be a great country singer with his particular voice qualities though, I agree.

Nephi, Tim Akkerman is a rock singer, former lead singer of the band Direct, before 2009 you can find them on you tube. But like all Dutch singers he can sing more than only rock music. Depends on the water you drink :)

What makes this so great is if you compare it with Vivo per Lei by Henk and Emma. They had great chemistry going on, they sounded very good together, but it was "only" a cover, where especially the female part is not close to the original in terms of vocal expression and singing ability. I don't mean that in a negative way for Emma, but she is still very young and has things to learn. I expect greatness from her in the years to come. Compared to that, "Shallow" is in another league. If I heard Floors/Tims version first as "original" and then Lady Gagas "cover" I would frankly say that Lady Gaga butchered it. Floor has so much more expression and dynamics in her voice that is takes the song to another level. In fact, she did that with all her covers in this show. I think it was Rolf who remarked to her "How do you make everything better?!"

To me, Floor was overpowering Tim. Even though I hear him better here, it still doesn't loud enough. they didn't plan this right and give him a loud enough mic. Henk and Emma were better. Chemistry, tone blending, no one overpowering the other, the choices Emma made with her transitions, agility( I never heard the original, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the adlibs were Emma's), and the emotional connection were superior.

Rosannasfriend well it is clear you are a fan of Emma. That’s ok. She is good, but there is only one the best and that is Floor. Her duet with Henk is epic. There is no better performance of the “phantom” as they did in beste zangers.

You should check out more of Tim Akkerman. He made it big with the rock band ''Di-rect'' during 2001-2009. Then he went solo and made Folk/Indie/Pop rock. Di-rect got an amazing new singer and are an amazing mature band these days!

The only point if criticism I have with this version is that at the moment Floor turns on her power voice for that last chorus they sing together, Tim gets absolutely drowned out. The sound technician should have upped the volume on Tims mic a little for that part just to get a slightly better balance between their voices. I mean it's not a bad thing that Floor has the lead there, but I could hardly hear Tim at all.

I agree. I kinda felt bad for Tim because of it. Floor has such a huge voice. Not everyone can keep up with her. I have actually seen in a few live duets where Floor would make motions to have her mic turned down. Too bad the sound tech didn't think this thru in this case.

I prefer the solo version that she did of this. This is more like every other cover, where keeping it small was more original. Also, Tim's voice got swallowed up at the end. Sound guy should have turned his mic up when Floor stood up.
