Should pigtail the connections on the garage receptacle. But you shouldn't add anything to a garge door opener circuit.

Do you have to have a drop ceiling below the floor? I have a finished office below my living room. And there isn't a light on the ceiling.

Unfortunately this situation doesn't work for everyone. You would need to cut holes and fish wires if there is no lights or wiring below.

I am not sure what you did in your garage is code. Why not make up joints with a few scotch locks?

@@nextleveldiy Only code worthy if the circuit has not already been fully used. My question was back stabbing the outlet. You are running #14 but I cannot tell if this box has #12 or not or if this is a 20A circuit. My question was why not make pigtails and eliminate the risk of that outlet failing.
