knowing that Fighting Spirit was a 5 mega game on a general purpose machine from 1985 (you played the AGA version for amiga 1200 from 1992, the only difference from the ECS version for amiga 500 were more colors, nothing else), where 90% of games had to be played with a 1 button atari style joystick (the others with a mouse), in comparison with a 330 mega arcade machine whose games they took inspiration, i'd say what they did there can be considered a miracle.

No idea how I never knew about Fightin' Spirit, being an Amiga guy. Sure, it 'borrows' a lot but in 1995 those games were really not easily obtainable like they are now and plus they're done pretty well in this game and it has it's own charm and can feel like the devs working on it were big fans and this feels like a bit of a passion project (for putting that much effort into an Amiga game in 1996 it has to be a passion project cos the market was near death) so I'm fine with it :)

For some weird reasons, while I was waiting for sf6 I started playing Superior Soldier and couldn't put it down. The strategy for meltdown is to let the AI read your input and use that against it: you must run and jump over him, baiting his DP move, then close in and throw (throws are absurdly OP in SS). Also, I checked out the japanese version and A LOT was cut: apart from the usual name change, every character had a pre and post match quote for every other character, and the annuncer said the name of thefighters before the match.
@PurgaB Жыл бұрын
Superior Soldiers is a fun game but it is hard to get used to the moves first, but once you do it is a bit easy to get through, but it is fun seeing fighting games that haven't been played in a long time or getting more notability.

Fightin' Spirit looks pretty cool, sure the CD32 was rubbish but if you still had an A1200 kicking around then it'd be a good time. There's even an A500 version that looks pretty decent, though I'd wager it's sweating as it's a 64 colour game. On the GG look at the Power Rangers game by Banpresto, it's a fighter instead of a brawler, presumably to allow for bigger sprites by cutting down to just 2 people, and the screen would have hidden light flicker.

I remember the Power Rangers Game Gear game having a versus mode that might be worth checking out. The story mode is sort of an odd hybrid between a beat 'em up and a fighting game but you can also run through the cast list in 1v1 fights like an arcade mode.
@wraithcadmus Жыл бұрын
Yup, has the putties jumping into the fray one-on-one, which not only keeps the sprite limit in check but is 100% in character. I also remember that the versus ladder didn't allow "illegal" fights, like Mega Dragonzord can't fight Megazord as they share legs, and a Ranger can't fight Cyclopsis as one is forever 'big' and the other 'small'. There was a Dream Mode which removed these restrictions.
