You’re getting much better at cash. Letting AQ check through instead of betting river and potentially getting blown off your hand and betting 20% with K10 in the hopes of getting xr with a bluff were fire plays. Unlucky he had one of the hands you could target for value in the AQ hand, but you’re printing cash and losing the minimum with that play in the long run. Super cool to watch your progression. Fuck the haters rampage, you’re killing it man.

I do happen to agree with everyone who says to protect your cards better, and never leave them on or across the betting line. I'll add my own 2 cents about it, by saying that I don't like how you usually very deliberately make both cards visible to opponents, while I personally stack them perfectly together, or even move the top one 1mm toward the opponent, to shadow/hide the bottom one. Here is why you need to protect your cards better, if you don't want to learn the hard way by losing a pot: 1. People do sometimes mark, or notice marks on, cards. Often it is by pressing a fingernail or ring on the edge of a card. Showing the full edges of both cards instead of one card, doubles their chance of seeing something they've marked or noticed. 2. People flicking their cards into the muck, sometimes hit other people's cards when doing so. Having your cards out in the middle of the table hugely increases the chance of that happening, as it is in the direct line of fire from them to the muck/dealer. I've flicked my cards to the dealer or muck, and had them go clear to the other end of the table and almost hit someone's cards. 3. If your cards do get hit by a player's mucked cards, you can't be sure what the floor will rule. In some casinos, your cards are then dead, even if it's obvious which cards are yours, which are the other player's mucked cards. In other casinos, they'll disentangle them and your hand will be live. In those cases, having your own cards perfectly stacked/oriented will help make it obvious they are yours and anything misaligned or offset is not. 4. There is only one downside to stacking your cards together perfectly, which is why I like stacking them so I can see 2 and most opponents can see 1. I've seen a dealer bringing in cards from the 2 seat, accidentally skim off the top card of the 1 seat after the 2 seat folded the flop. The 1 seat had flopped a set, an opponent in the 5 seat turned a flush, and the board paired on the river. A lot of money went in, despite it only being 10/20 limit holdem. The flush shows, the boat goes to show, and THEY ONLY HAVE ONE CARD. Ouch. The flush took the pot. The player with one card says "you know I wouldn't have bet like that without a boat, it's my pot". The opponent and floor could barely keep from laughing. Her real mistake was that she didn't have a card protector or chip on the cards, so didn't notice when the top card disappeared. Between 10 players and the dealer, NOBODY had noticed. 5. You make it WAY too easy for a dealer or mucking player, to screw with your cards if they are friends with your opponent. When the day arrives that they try to take advantage, I can guarantee that it won't be in a small pot, and it won't be when your opponent has the nuts. Protect your hand!

@Rampage: First hand, you checked behind turn and river with your AQ on 9h 6s As Ks 3c. You commented that your thinking, "what worse hands will call?" was correct even though it turned out that he had one of those few worse hands. First, I like a bet on the turn, since you could easily have the flush here since QJss QTss TJss are all in your range, and the checks to you implies no one else has it. Second, after you did check behind the turn and it is checked to you again on the river, I think you asked the wrong question. Instead of "what worse hands will call?" you might ask "what better hands checked turn and river?" Only A9s, which is only one combo, compared to the 8 combos of AJ that will call. If you add in a consideration that AJ might fold, then you also have to add in that AQ might fold, too, so that's a wash.

The other player had A5 and the board didn’t pair and the rest is history as A5 scooped the pot. Keep playing long enough and you will see some strange things with 44. Goodluck! P.S. yes all players were All In.

Stop putting your cards out past the betting line. Massive anxiety seeing that. The card protector is virtually irrelevant when your cards are that far out. Your cards are more likely to get exposed by the dealer pulling bets in at well. Literally 0 benefit and unnecessary risk, especially in a game this large.

In my poker room, if you leave your cards across the line even with a chip on them it’s a muck.
@joyride15982 жыл бұрын
It's not a muck until either 1) the cards touch the stub/muck pile or 2) action has been made behind you after it was inferred you mucked. If neither of those have taken place, you still possess your cards and can take them back from the dealer if he reaches for them or tells you they're mucked

Great stuff Ethan. I imagine you didn't expect to get unstuck lifetime at Hustler on that trip. I'll cross my fingers and hope you held for day 4. So, the K9 hand where you flopped the straight. You 3bet pre, so AK (the stone nuts going to the river) is smack in your range. And Feldman knows this. Do you think he's going to try to bluff you off AK? Nah, I don't think so either. In some ways the board pairing and flushing at the same time shoulda saved your ass. You could have that flush. I think your actual hand is the bottom of your perceived range, and yet still he wants to pile it in. It's tough to fold there, but I think on your A-game you find that one. ❤️
