Phily is great. I’ve absolutely loved her channel since day 1. Harry Morgan introduced us to Phily back in the day ❤ Great interview

Love Philly too and had the great pleasure of meeting her, and Daniel of course, last year at the Night of 10,000 Pb's. She was a delight as you may guess she would be. Love Flora too of course. 💚

What a pleasure, my two ABSOLUTE favourite runners and KZbinrs on one video, Fab Flora and Perpetual Pile Phily. This vid is an absolute keep. To Phily's point, my very first event was a 10k and my objectives, bearing in mind that I only started running at age 45, was (a) finish the race - never run 10k before, ever - and (b) to do so in under an hour. I finished in 59:57! I was knackered but I was on such a high I sang all the way home and that was forever my best running memory topping by far my first marathon which was the Peninsular Marathon in beautiful Capetown in 1989. Thanks Flora and Phily for this wonderful collaboration. Love from Johannesburg.

Great interview Flora really enjoyed this one, esp the setting and low key chat in the park style. Super interesting and sub 230 is just a different level. I thought that point Phily raised was so pertinent about having a very supportive partner and people around you, important for achieving anything in life where you have to push hard. Yea great interview.

Fantastic interview! I loved the parts about surrounding yourself with supportive people, and about having it all, but not at once. I’ve broken that down so that I can try… I have so many irons in the fire, and work 60+ hours a week, along with training for my first 100k. I prioritize something different each day, so nothing gets neglected. Running is my absolute priority 3 days a week, my husband/home 2 days, and my business 2 days. On their off days, they all get “basic maintenance”. I won’t ever be the best at anything, but I get to have it all, without (too much) guilt over neglecting important things. I hope Phily does cross over into trail eventually! Long Ultras are the sport where women can truly compete on equal footing and win. We could use more super fast, super cool women representing out on the trail! Looking forward to more interviews, you really are a natural!

You mentioned getting enough sleep, about how much sleep do you try to get? I am older (66) and worked shift work before I retired so I struggle to get 5 or 6 hours a night. Just started running two months ago and I don’t think it has affected me but always looking for improvement. Thanks!

Almond milk is actually terrible for the planet. It takes hundreds of gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of almond milk. Best not to toss stones around in a glass house. (And try oat milk, it’s much more ecologically friendly.) 😊
