Floras Lake: Hiking through an Enchanted Forest

About 30 minutes drive south of Bandon, Oregon is a little known place called Floras Lake State Recreation Area. It is well known for kite surfing, but there are several hikes in the area that are definitely worth it too. We tried the Floras Lake Waterfall trail, and though we didn't get to finish it as we missed one of the trail signs and went the wrong way, we still got to hike through a magical forest. Definitely still worth it (even if we did miss the cliffs and waterfall) :-)

The forest does look pretty magical. I love going for walks with dogs - they always make it so much more fun! I love the way the bound along. That newt is huge!

I know right! I had never seen one before! It was kind of cool! and I totally agree about the dogs hiking. My cute puppy just gets so excited she cant contain herself :-)

The Journey oh they we so happy! My dog especially seemed to love just getting all dirty :-) it was a lot of fun! the kite surfing that we saw on our way back looked like a lot of fun too... bucket list!

yeah, definitely! I was a little frustrated when I first realized, but I dont regret it now. We made some really great memories going the way that we did! And that just means that I'll have to go back to hike it again to go the right way!

Yeah those puddles were no joke! I'm going to have to go back so that I can actually get to the waterfall and arch that I was trying to make it to the first time :-)

That forest looked like a really relaxing place. Ideal spot for a family trip.The dogs looked so happy running freely around.I think the fact you took the wrong trail wasn't too bad after all, the one you took did look like an elven forest ;)

yeah, I love going on adventures with my nieces and nephews... it's fun to see their excitement... oh to see the world through a child's eyes! For my music, I use Epidemic Sounds :-)
